Can someone suggest the best method to approach creating a wheel mouse such as the one in the attached image.

But that mouse isn't the same shape at all, it is not much more than the top portion of an extruded half-circle with some modifications (no insult intended to the creator).

This shape doesnt match the picture either, but here's a file where you can look at the construction curves and get the jist of how to start... The profile shapes just need to match the shape you want...
