Ok, so far so good, continuing the v4 rollout.

Order pages for v4 full version and upgrade versions are now active at http://moi3d.com/purchase.htm .

If you've ordered v3 after Aug 1, 2018 you can get a free v4 upgrade at http://moi3d.com/4.0/upgrade.php .

Thank you Michael.

One upgrade purchased and installed.

Lately Windows 10 has been warning about downloading some other programs, which occurred with the upgrade.
Selecting "keep" permits the download, which is of course harmless with MoI4.

Then when some other programs are installed, including the upgrade, Windows 10 defender again warns, but still permits installation.

ps, SanDisk has a new 1TB SSD, about the size of a thick credit card. (Costco).

Part of max's custom ui fails in the v4 release. It is the lighting presets link. Worked in the last beta just fine

Trying to figure out what's different.

You did say there is virtually no difference in the dec beta and this release?

I get plugin not found "else code"

Hi Burr, Max's lighting presets depends on an entry in the moi.ini file being populated with the information from Dino's plug-in here:
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=5222.43

If it worked in the last beta then probably the thing to check is if you had the last beta set up with its own moi.ini file separate from the one that the v4 release is currently using.

Either run that plug-in in the v4 release so that section of the moi.ini file gets populated, or copy the moi.ini file being used with the last beta to the one being used by the v4 release. Or you could copy over just the one entry that it's looking for which is LightingOptions=<...>

Does that get it working?

Hi Michael,
Using the old ini file directly has it work...

I've been using a diff program, so I can be sure i have any ini updates and settings kept new, and not overwrite them and lose them for later...

So I diff the 2 ini files (The one from the v4 install that i diffed and added the old stuff into and the old ini file itself, and cant find anything different that i would THINK affects this menu...

I'm baffled.

I could just forget about it, but my ini file is pretty jumbled up now from a default installation...

Hi Michael,
Dont lose any sleep over this... It works.

Hi Burr, the one to look for is in the [Commands] section:

[Commands]
UseDiameterDefault=n
NonRepeatingCommands=delete undo redo
DoNotRepeatShortcutKeys=n
LightingOptions={"selected":"My Favorite","themes":{"Default" <....> { lots more text on this one entry }
<...>

Your old moi.ini should have [Commands] LightingOptions=... but it will not be there in a new default created one.

Hi Michael, I saw on the upgrade page that it is possible to upgrade an educational version, is that correct? If so, is the price the same?

Hi noldo, yes well there are 2 different ways you can upgrade an educational version.

If you are no longer a student, you can get the v4 commercial version upgrade, it will work with a license from any previous version including either EDU or commercial.

If you are still a student then there will also be an EDU upgrade version available which will be at a lower cost than the regular commercial upgrade version. I do not sell the EDU versions directly myself though, they are purchased from a reseller like Studica. It will probably be a week or so before resellers will have the v4 EDU versions (both regular EDU license and EDU upgrade) set up on their web sites.

Hi Michael,

Congrats for the release.
I made the upgrade and the link to the Windows version provided online didn't work for me (Google Chrome).
The link I received in the e-mail confirmation worked fine so it's a minor issue... ;-)

Difficult to imagine that my first MoI 3D download was almost 15 years ago !

Thanks for your hard work and continuous support

Schbeurd

Happy New Year !

Hi Michael,
Well, i thought i did everything correctly, but then again, that's what i get for doing my own thinking!

I was going to revisit my installation and try and clean up my ini better...

One thing i've gotten, is multiple duplicate sections...

Like:

[Settings]
[Commands]

In a couple places....

Is that ok or problematic? Should i worry about consolidating those?

Thanks again...

I got this sorted out Michael.

I was confused.

No duplicate sections. Everything working as expected!

Thanks again...

Hi Schbeurd, good to hear from you and thanks for the order!

I've had a couple of people run into this but I haven't been able to repeat it over here when using Chrome.

Do you possibly have any extensions installed like any kind of blockers?

Hi Schbeurd,

re:

Ok, I think I've figured out that Chrome in newer installs will ignore http:// download links and only wants https:// SSL ones.

I guess this didn't happen to me in Chrome because I've got an old install with old options set.

I've updated the download links to use https:// now so hopefully this should be fixed.
