Is there a feature to 'plug' geometry on surfaces?

Or at least something with a similar logic, not just boolean add or substract, but adding set detail on surfaces both curved or flat. Set details that can go simultaneously extrude or go inside the form.

Since Moi 3D is geared towards the artist approach of CAD, I was thinking more of the line of kitbashing details on surfaces in a quick way.

Additional Question: Is there a 'symmetry' function that can automatically mirror changes on both mirrored sides?

>>symmetry

Draw a box or any object
Mirror
Modify the original (Points : Move, Scale Rotation), (Global without Point : Move, Scale, Rotation)

Hi aphaits, there isn't anything built in for that but you can get that effect by doing a boolean and then doing a fillet after.

There is a mirror command that can be used with history updates like Pilou writes above but it's not quite the same thing as a live symmetry type function. I would like to work on a deeper symmetry function in the future.

PS Instance function for mutual modify (without the Mirror above) is a little tricky!

Draw Object A (here on the left)
Copy Move it as Object B
Select Object B !!!
Enable History !!!
Modify object A !!! ;)

Very nice video reference!

Thank you, the logic clicked to me when Chipp describes it as substracting first then add kitbash.

Thank you Michael for the reply.
Boolean and fillet seems ok for basic hole details.
Plugging the hole with extruding details seems to work fine. (from the widget kitbash Pilou posted)
The only missing logic that I'm looking for is applying it in curved surfaces.

Looking forward to future features!

Hi aphaits, the Transform > Orient command can be good for placing an object aligned with a surface normal on a curved surface.

http://moi3d.com/3.0/docs/moi_command_reference8.htm#orient

Also if you have an object set up in its own separate file centered around the origin you can the ImportPart command which is available by a right-click on the File > Import button. That will bring in that file's content and place it like the Orient command.

Or if you want to draw something aligned to a surface normal you can use View > CPlane to set the construction plane to that local frame of reference.

Not bad!
Need to play around with it to get it right, the orient command helps a lot!
Really useful for placing screw holes on 3d print models and adding details on scifi hard surface.
Awesome!

Thank you Michael and Pilou!
