Scaling by a distance

Hi there,

Is there a way of scaling by a distance, not by a scale factor?
Of course, you can draw a line with a target length beforehand, but it's a little awkward.

Thank you,
Marek

Hi Marek, the Transform > Scale command can use either distances or a scale factor in it, there is a description of this in the help file here:
http://moi3d.com/3.0/docs/moi_command_reference8.htm#scale

When you are in the Transform > Scale command instead of entering in a scale factor you can pick 2 reference points to establish the scaling. If you want to use a distance instead of targeting a snap point you can use distance constraint to do that. Click on the "d" field in the bottom toolbar and enter in your distance value. That will then constrain your pick point to be at that distance from the scale origin.

Or if you have 2 distance values you could enter in some arithmetic in the scale factor field like 120/25 , etc...

Yes, that "d" distance thing is what I was searching.
And it was right there.
This arithmetic method is interesting, but you must have an exact value, which is not always the case because the result can be approximate.

It's always a pleasure to come back to such a brilliant software and a friendly developer and a forum.

Thank you Michael.
