Hi people,

Could someone remind me how to set the right hand side menu to be permanently expanded? The attached shows what I am trying to do. I made the change on my copy of MoI V3 but it was so long ago I can't remember how I did it. Might be my age! Anyway, I need to set up v4 beta so any help would be welcome.

Thanks

Mark :-)

Hi Mark, so for v3 setting up the side pane like that would have involved editing the SidePane.htm file as described in these links:
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=8064.1

For v4 it's possible to set up a startup script that will do that, I've attached one here named SeparateSidePanePalettes.js . If you place that in your MoI v4's startup scripts folder I think that should do what you want without needing to edit any files.

The startup scripts folder is in your MoI appdata folder, on Windows that would be C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\moi\startup and on Mac ~/Library/Application Support/Moi/startup.

- Michael

EDIT: updated script to work with the Oct-27-2020 v4 beta.

I launch it but pannels are not permanent "Open" ! They are all "closed" ! V 4 beta - Not expanded by default!

I must click on each them for open the pannels! (or it's maybe because my size height screen is not sufficient ?

Hi Pilou, yes you will need a pretty high resolution screen for them to all be opened. One thing you might try though is to unmaximize the window and make sure that the unmaximized regular size is large, if that window size is small it might fit to that size initially.

Thanks for your help Michael. Yes, I use a big, hi-res screen so this layout works well for me.

Hi Pilou,

> And as "Floating windows" ? So palettes on the Latop and screen on the monitor ?

Things are not really set up for that right now but it is possible with some complications, some info here if you want to experiment:

http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=7394.10
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=1521.31
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=1173.17

In the future I want to make an option for having the sidepane and/or scene browser on a separate screen. Not as a floating window but as a docked panel on the side of the other screen.

Would there be a way to exclude the View and Select window from being split since I use the custom ui from max and those are already down in the bottom bar. :)

I dont want a floating panel :)

Iam just asking if view and select could still be combined while the other tabs are split like Michaels script does.

Thats my current setup:
