MMMhhh... I tried too but... are you sure ANY object ? I tried to model a plane in Moi and then export (tried all the options).

Imported in TM 2.195 and then tried to obtain something fabolous as your image. NOPE.

So I retried with a solid (capped loft etc) and other (from Rhino too). The result is weird.

I love car modeling so if I could cut a surface, export/import in topmod, i could obtain a fantastic preformed grill to put on my cars holes

You must export in obj format (better if you use Ngons) for have a more quadric structures
If you have some numerous rectangular 3D in Topmod you can kill them
If some structures are absent in your object create it in Topmod
Attach in zip file an exemle file of one car for example

Hi Pilou, thank for your lightning answer. I'm at work now, and 3d is an @home hobby, so I don't have files with me except some images of my car.

The matter is I was heart touched by your image because making grilles in Rhino can be a very tedious task (lots of polingons in render meshes too). This actually results in larger files and longer render times.

What I imagine is: suppose you have modeled an air intake in a part of your car surface and you wanna cap that hole with a flat (or carved) grille. If I could export that piece (obj) in topMod, obtain the quality you reached in your image, and come back in rhino to use that obj to cap that hole with that grille I could be an happier person.

Sorry if I mention Rhino here, but it's here that I found special minds at work. I apologize in advance if it hurts someone.

No problem for have any measures of the "wire" object in Topmod because you enter a value by hand who can be something like 1 to 0.0001! (depending of the original)

The only problem now in Topmod is that : you can modify something existing but not add an another object
So paste our objects in any 3D prog and re-import it in topmod for have your "grid wire" :)
Ps Cool car!
So next time post your "piece" to wired and not the entiere car :)
Else it's the entiere car ( but heavy file I presume) you can kill easily quasi all parts in just one selection of facets :)

i tried installing it into commands and created shortcut but it does not work.

Hi mario, there are some instructions for how to install plug-ins on the FAQ answer list here:
http://moi3d.com/faq#Q:_How_do_I_install_a_plug-in_script.3F

Make sure you've unzipped the files, you don't want to copy the .zip file itself directly into the commands folder, you need to unzip it and then install the files which were contained in there.

If you are still having problems maybe you could show a screenshot of what your keyboard shortcut and commands folder looks like.

first of all wish you very happy and successful 2016. Keep rolling with MOI. It has been useful tool to many professionals.
i have installed max importer OBJ plug-in but it does not work. other tools i have installed today work fine such as pipe and toroidal helix.

Error: One has underscore symbol, one does not. They must match.
The name must match the name of the file loaded in the Moi commands directory.

I use the underscore with Max's custom UI, but Moi shortcuts would then need to be renamed with the _ prefix.

Hi Mario, yes like Brian writes above I'm kind of confused by what you show there, are you showing screenshots from 2 different points in time where you tried different things?

Because the error message seems to show you had a command name with an underscore in it, while your keyboard shortcut does not seem to have an underscore in front.

The name you put for the command name of the shortcut key must match the filename of the .js file (everything in the name up to but not including the .js file extension).

When MoI gives a "reference error" like the one you posted, it means that it tried to look for a .js file of that command name in the commands folder but it was not able to find any such file, and so as a last resort it tried to run that text as direct script code which gives that error. But if you receive that it means you either don't have the name right in the shortcut key or did not copy the file into the right folder.
