All those additional icons in the ui?

A question that will sound very dumb maybe but... it is there and it has to be asked: all those additional icons that are in the ui of Moi (which we see in many tutorials)... how do we install them?

Hello Pilou! Thanks for the reply. I do mean some other icons, not those that you refer in the link you put. There are some icons that have to do with viewport matters and some other utilities as it seems (I do see them in Chip Walters toutorials mainly, as in the video below). But, anyway, my question had to do with the way we install plugins to Moi, in general. I tried to install some plugins from the page of Max Smirnov (I extracted them to the 'commands' folder of Moi) but as far as I see, nothing new appears in the ui of Moi. Sure, something I do is wrong but what?

Thanks for any help...

In fact any Plugin installed can be called by Pressing key Tab then write it's name!

Or by making a ShortCut as usual!
http://moi3d.com/3.0/docs/moi_command_reference11.htm#shortcutkeys

There is nothing more in the UI if you have not installed some tricky UIs made by Users!
(what is not big easy! ;) Till Michael don't integrate some new tools for that! ;)

http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=7245.69

If you read French you have some detailed process for that! :)
http://moiscript.weebly.com/customiser-lui.html
http://moiscript.weebly.com/liste-scripts-commandes.html
http://moiscript.weebly.com/mgb-interface.html

I can suggest you to make a little Text file where you write all your names' ShortCut well managed
so you have just to make a copy past after a Tab Key Pressing!
So that you avoid some headaches to install the tricky UIs! ;)

Thise icons you refer to are put there "manually" by those users. For the right side it is a file named "sidepane.htm" and for the bottom it's "commandbar.htm" they are found in the ui subfolder of your MoI install.

You can open those with a text editor and add lines.

Make a copy to revert as you work.

Hi Dmitry, there are some instructions on how to install plug-in commands here:
http://moi3d.com/faq#Q:_How_do_I_install_a_plug-in_script.3F

> I tried to install some plugins from the page of Max Smirnov (I extracted them to the

> Sure, something I do is wrong but what?

Currently that's normal that installing a plug-in does not make anything appear in the UI, you need to set up a shortcut key to trigger the new command. Or also as mentioned above you can press the tab key and type the command name into the XYZ input box and push Enter to launch it.

But if you install Max's CustomUI extension, that does have a scripts menu in it that will list new commands that you add.

Thanks all for the precious help! The keyboard shortcuts way is working fine. I still did not understand, however, the way Max's CustomUI extension should be installed. I do extract the zip to the Moi app folder, launch Moi but nothing happens. In which, exactly, sub directory of Moi's installation folder should someone extract it?

Installation :
- Save the original file .../ ui / CommandBar.htm (for exemple : CommandBar.htm_original in case of)
- Extract zip files of CustomUI inside folder MoI/ ui /...
- Launch moi.exe

but as you can see here (in French) http://moiscript.weebly.com/customiser-lui.html
there is some possibilities! :)

I am not understanding the first part of the explanation (the 'Save the original file .../ ui / CommandBar.htm (for exemple : CommandBar.htm_original in case of)')... can you elaborate a little bit?

I do download the zip file and then I do unzipp it to the Moi/ui... but as I said nothing appears there. What, exactly, is the thing I do omit?

First "save" is just to save a file who will kill by the plugin who has a file with the same name! ;)
In case where you don't want more of the plugin!

For the rest...what version of Moi have you?
Can you post the image(s) of your Moi's folders and their inside?

Hi DIMITRI,
The official CommandBar.htm is replaced with a slightly modified one, so saving the old one would be a good practice, but is not needed.
The MoI version must be a legitimate final version 3, not a beta, or version 2, or an illegal hack. ...Edit: Or free demo...
MoI ini file must refer to MoI3 path, not a beta. (An unlikely possibility.)
Windows may prevent casual install, due to your rights level...
Or do you have a Mac?
There are a couple of hundred posts, with help, under Search "CustomUI."

You have also another possibility to add icon but it's a little tricky!
In the sidePanel or in the TaskBar bottom!
in French ;)

Hi Dmitry, try unzipping it somewhere else like on your desktop first and then copy it over after that, it will make it a little easier to control it.

re:

None - you copy it over directly into MoI's main install folder. This will create 2 subdirectories in the main installation folder for "objects" and "snapshots", and it will add new stuff into the already existing UI folder. It will overwrite one file CommandBar.htm, say yes to that, that's what will make the new icons show up on the bottom bar.

If you're not seeing anything and not getting a warning about a file overwrite then maybe you've got it copied into some nested location.
