Need for modelling challenges

Hi Michael.

How are you ?
I hope fine.

I have to admit to myself that in recent months I really have lost almost all the interest for Cad/mechanical 3d modelling.
Maybe because for almost all 2015-2016 I spent much of my garbage time to learn many 3d nurbs modelling techniques as possible
and now I feel saturated :)
I returned to play with more organic things like Ploy/SDS and Sculpting modelling that is a lot more fun,
and in this last two months I returned also to my old love (about computer gfx), that is digital painting/sketching.

So I've dusted off my Wacom Intuos Pro and started again to play with colors and canvas and brushes.

Now I want to ask you : Could you please give me a new modelling challenge ?

I mean...maybe you can tell me some interesting cad/mechanical object/scene that could be very interesting to model with Moi.

I don't know...I think that you understand me :)

I stay tuned, thanks.

See you.

About your Modeling challenge! :)
I know one very funny! :)

Dessign a space cubic module for starship! :)

And also a little cool headache as you can study the 24 links! ;)
As a Cube has 24 positions in the space you can make some crazzy infinite combinaisons!

My little video in French with this technic of 24 Positions so you can Cut the sound! :)
http://moiscript.weebly.com/video05-plug-su.html

24 positions of a same module! (linkable of course in this case just by the little middle square! )

24 Positions
by schmolldu
on Sketchfab

with a module a little more organic! :) Here 100% linkable!

For inspiration : modeling only by Sketchup! :)
By xlrlxi http://600v.deviantart.com/gallery/

Beauty of all that is you must find a specific form who must linkable by a face on each face
and had every faces different! A very tricky cool challenge! :)

Another inspiration :)

Hi Marco, I'm sorry but it's just not really something that I do.... I'm much more focused on helping people that are trying to construct something specific.

But I'm sure that others can help you with that, looks like Pilou has posted many ideas for you above!

Another thing you could try is to just look through the gallery on the website and find something in there that you'd like to try and model yourself.

Hi Michael and Pilou.

Thanks a lot for your replies.

Thanks a lot Pilou for your suggestions and modelling "stimulus" !
Much appreciated.

Anyway, maybe a good idea for me now is to be away from HardSurface/Cad/Mechanical modelling, at least for some time.

I'm too saturated and now I can't find any incentive in this kind of 3D modelling.

I stay tuned for all news about the upcoming Moi V4 and I'll keep reading this wonderful forum :)

See you !

Hi Mik and thanks a lot for the suggestion.

Very interesting stuff, although it seems that these kind of models are more strictly organic and good for a Poly/SDS environment.

But when I have some decent amount of spare time I'll take a deeper look at it.

Thanks.

I've found this site very inspirational.
http://www.bulgarov.com/blackphoenix_10days_of_mech.html

Also, when I'm 'stuck' I typically jump into ArtStation or Pinterest for inspiration. Another good thing to try is to 'time-box' some quick studies. The idea being trying to build something quickly. These are two time-boxes (done in a couple hours) vaporizers I created in 3D Coat a couple months ago. It was a great learning process and I ended up with something I could show.

Hi Chippwalter, Stefan and everyone!

It's very late here....I have to go bed!....but I've found a couple of hour for a little inspiration :)

Thanks Chippwalter for sharing the page of Vitaly Bulgarov and thanks also to you Stefan for the link to Christian Bird's page!

I took some inspiration from Christian Bird's black and white renderings (wonderful stuff!) and I have made this strange
"mechanical flower" composition.

All images are simply the Moi's viewport captured in highres using a script and then elaborated with Affinity Photo.

Here's the 3dm zipped file (many MB due to the absence of Instancy in Moi...) : http://take.ms/dnIuU

And here are some "fake" renderings :

See you!

Very nice Marco! I'm also inspired by Christian's works and may do something in black and white too.
