Hi guys,

Just wanted to show you my latest work, a Limondaine product presentation proposal.

• Initial hard-surface modeling (bottle, cap, lamp) realized using MoI 3D.
• Organic modeling (splash and ripples) and detailing (bottle relief) performed using ZBrush.
• Materials, lighting and rendering executed using Keyshot.

All the best,

— Metin

Hi Metin,

very nice work and presentation!

Since you mention that you use ZBrush for detailing, i would like to ask you what are the best export settings from MoI when using ZBrush to finalize a model. I ask, because i just have bought the little ZBrushCore and thought also to combine MoI and ZBrushCore usage. I know it does not have all the big features like ZBrush, but maybe you have a tip or two handy if one should use better Dynamesh or subdividing first after import etc.)

Best regards
Stefan

Hi Metin,

It's really a very effective and communicative presentation, IMHO above all for its warm environmental lighting and the viewpoint,
slightly from the bottom up.

Best,

- Marco (mkdm)

Thanks a lot guys, very much appreciated!

Stefan, do you happen to be the same Stefan I advised about importing vertex colors at the ZBrush Central forum? :)

You can read all about my MoI ➔ Zbrush export settings in this discussion:

http://moi3d.com/forum/messages.php?webtag=MOI&msg=8109.1

Additionally, I assign Styles to surfaces in MoI, and import in ZBrush using the option to import Obj materials as polygroups. Then I use those polygroups as ZRemesher guides by activating the KeepGroups option. I'll add this to the other discussion as well.

But I don't know if all the mentioned options are available in ZBrushCore. You'll have to find that out.

Have a great weekend y'all,

— Metin

You must be the hero of a lot of French 3D artists, Frenchy, spending so much time on translating MoI, ZBrush and SketchUp data and info. Very generous of you.

Hi Metin,

yes i am the same Stefan, you advised. :-) ZbrushCore does not have ZRemesher for example, but it is no problem for me, since i will save money for the full version and purchase it next year, so your explanations in your other MoI thread are very helpful for me and i save it for later reference. I will however try Centroid setting with Dynamesh. I visit now ZBRushCentral very often and i'm amazed how so much superb artworks can be created with ZBrush, simply amazing. Wish i had not bought so much other software in the past and spend the money instead for ZBrush.... ;-)

Best regards
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

My pleasure.

And I totally understand what you mean — when it comes to organic modeling there's nothing like ZBrush. But for fast, smooth and accurate hard-surface modeling there's nothing like MoI. Combine the two, add a great renderer (like Keyshot for ZBrush, or Blender's Cycles), and you can create anything you want.

Investing in ZBrushCore is a wise first step. If you find out that you're hooked, the full ZBrush is definitely worth every penny, like MoI.

All the best,

Metin

I completely agree Metin, and what i also like about ZBrush and ZBrushCore is that they offer an affordable Keyshot solution.

Best regards
Stefan

Absolutely. I would not have owned Keyshot Pro if it wasn't for the ZBrush option.

For exporting to Zbrush, I found the best export settings are when you divide "larger then" on all surfaces at a reasonable setting to prevent triangulation issues, and to have Quads + triangles output. This will prevent long and thin triangles and keep them small so that Zremesher has even normal data to create a good surface.
