Movement Basics

I am liking the program so far.
I am finding it a little annoying on how hard it is to find information on the basics.

I was wondering if anyone could point me to some documentation or better yet videos about movment basics.
I have seen some cool stuff in other videos, stuff like people drawing out lines and then moving the surface along them.

Unfortunately , even after some exploring, I cant seem to fully understand what the move tool is doing, or how exactly to use it perfectly.

Thanks!

Hi malibubob, the documentation for the Transform > Move command is here:
http://moi3d.com/3.0/docs/moi_command_reference8.htm#move

The way it works is that you first select the object you want to move, then run the Transform > Move command.

When you run a command, there will be a prompt showing in the upper-right area of the main window. The prompt tells you what MoI is asking for you to do, so it's good idea to look at that area to see what you are supposed to do next.

For Move the first prompt will say "Pick base point" - this will be the point on the object. So for example if you wanted to move the corner of the box to a new location at the first prompt you would snap the base point onto the corner of the box.

After you have picked the base point, the next prompt will show which says "Pick target point" - this is where you pick the location you want to move to.

There is also a shortcut for moving objects which is to just drag the object by clicking the mouse on it and keeping the mouse button down while you drag the mouse.

You might try some of the basics videos from the collection here: http://moi3d.com/wiki/Resources#Tutorials like these from Tom Meeks: http://moiusers.blogspot.com/

Hope this helps, please let me know you need more information.

- Michael

That helps a lot.
Thanks for the info.

It may be just me, but the documentation is pretty hard to decipher sometimes :)
