A useful Kitbash technique for MoI3D

I updated the kitbash site this evening in an interesting way.
http://bit.ly/moikitbash

Most of you know I use Max's Obj Library scripts. He has a custom config in it which allows me to set the folder the library objects are stored to. So, I use a Dropbox Public folder, so I can pull images and files directly.

Then I created the data for the webpages as markdown and use MDwiki in a Dropbox folder to render the md to html. Now, anytime the md changes, the html is re-rendered on demand.

Finally, I wrote a small daemon on my local machine which monitors the Obj Lib folder and rebuilds the md file in Dropbox when things change. So, this means everytime I save a new Obj Library item, it is automatically available on the website. Check it out. Many more out there.

Max, if you're listening. Can you possibly suggest an easy way to 'page' through multiple libraries? For instance, would it be possible to have different folders to represent different libraries? I'm afraid I'll fill the current interface up pretty soon.

An interesting tweak to this process would be to create a Google Spreadsheet documenting all the scripts and plugins for MoI, and share it with the community. Then have a Daemon suck down the data at pre-recorded intervals (once per hour?) and render all the data to a Dropbox website, thus keeping all plugins, tutorials, etc. current and easily editable by specific community members.

Good idea???

@Chipp
As you know i have made a French version here
http://moiscript.weebly.com/kitbash.html

I will not remake a so sophisticated one ;)
I wish that you have not change the adress's link of your objects! :)
(you have changed the adress of the original old page! ;)

But that will be usefull to have somewhere the historic of the "new objects" to avoid (for me) to run on the ancient list! Time consuming!
(maybe a number ? Colors ?...) or more simply a little list here of new objects ? :)
for this time seems the news are:
Moi3D Logo
Cross_Blivet
and Some v_blivet
surely miss someones!

Not yet added before know new infos of your part! :)
Here your old original page! :) (that i had adapted so the list that i have)

Hi Pilou,

There have been many changes to the new objects, including updating old ones to work better. I would suggest you only translate the top part of the list and put a link to the English page as there's no need for translation for the Widgets. Just a name and a link for each. This way your list will always be the most current.

Hi Chipp

>> For instance, would it be possible to have different folders to represent different libraries?
Obj Library script supports multiple libraries. Just put the paths to config file "\ui\customui\mods\ObjLibrary.cfg.htm"
Example:
code:
Library1;C:\...\Path1
Library2;C:\...\Path2
Library3;C:\...\Path3

also I wrote another version of this script. You can open it as dialog window.
copy ObjLibrary.dialog.htm to \ui\customui\mods\
Use this command to open a dialog window: moi.ui.createDialog( 'customui/mods/ObjLibrary.dialog.htm', 'resizeable' );

>> An interesting tweak to this process would be to create a Google Spreadsheet documenting all the scripts and plugins for MoI, and share it with the community.
Yes, it's great idea.
But it will be better if Michael create an official online script repository and built-in script manager. Something like Notepad++ Plugin manager.

There is a little description of each objects! ;)

Maybe you can send me just the names of the new entering objects!
Like this I can reconstruct easily the big list! ;)

I suppose that your files has a date of creation : so just sort by date and you will have the news object on the top! :)

Hi Pilou,

The whole point of the new 'scheme' is I can continue to build widgets and they will automatically be uploaded to the website as soon as I save them. There is no metadata for description, therefore I can't provide it.

My suggestion is to translate the top of the website in French, then provide a link to the top item on the page, which currently is:

https://altuit.cloud/web/dbpub/markdown/MoiObjLibDontMove/mdwiki.html#!index.md#BLIVET-SQUARE

That's about best I can do.

It may be better I just share a library via Dropbox now that Max has multiple folder support.

I will think how best to accomplish this.

I did change my sig a couple days ago, but the new sig will only apply to new messages. Try the one below.

Very cool, thanks for sharing.
I would like to see McMaster provide that subtractable solid with their models.
Or perhaps http://masterlist.co/ could do something similar.

Thanks Max,

Did try your ObjLibrary.dialog.htm and it works great. Couple points:

Line 16 is
code:
<body>

should be
code:
<body class="MenuBody">

Also, FOR MAC OS ONLY! as with the ObjLibrary.menu.htm file this line 106:
code:
if ( moi.filesystem.fileExists (iconname) ) { document.write ('<div class="preview"><img class="icon" src="'+ iconname.split("\\").join('/') +'?'+randomID+'"></div>'); }

should be changed to:
code:
if ( moi.filesystem.fileExists (iconname) ) { document.write ('<div class="preview"><img class="icon" src="file:///z:'+ iconname.split("\\").join('/') +'?'+randomID+'"></div>'); }

I've UPDATED the ObjLibrary.dialog.htm for MacOS only with the changes (see attached).
