Back on topic … I rendered one more image with a more natural (outside) look
while using a sandstone texture. I think this might be an interesting topic for
ArchViz Designers to create such wall panels with Houdini and MoI. I could
imagine colored, like the first one, for interior design and this one for outside
walls.

<Houdini is really amazing what one can do with it. Wish i had concentrated more on Houdini and not
on so many other apps …>

Yup, it's a 3D sandbox :)

Here's an little example of what you can do with curves too, looks close from your last post.
For every points of the grid, I compute the distance of the closest point from every curves ... then I remap this distance with my own profile, and use the result as displace (elevation).
Displace strength, max distance search and profile options are in the pink node.

@PaQ : cool try of the 2D adaptation from my little image! Bravo!

Else
ZSurf 4 works like a charm!

Just difficult to find the good format bmp! (for me only prog Paint : 24 bits works! :)

Here texture from my old PhotoImpact more than 20 years old!!! :)

Of course another infinite possibilities! :) Render the very cool free SimLab Composer lite! ;) (max 1920 *1080 - Real Time)

So yes, if you can afford the indie version, you can simply convert the grid into a Nurbs surface, and export it as .igs.
Here's a 512*512 grid, file size (igs) is about 15Mb, almost instant loading in MoI.

Curious : seems freeCad is very slow to import iges files from ZSurf! 2 minutes ! ( for 3.38 Megas ! )
Moi it's 1 second!

Idem when the same file is saved from Moi in IGES! it was the simple Pilou text surface above!
It's the same for you?

Hi Pilou,

Yes I have heard about it !!!. Looks really great, and Dax Pandhi is a really good artist.
Out of the box it's probably a way faster solution than Houdini (especially the texturing, colors looks gorgeous !) ... but I really prefer to trade speed for flexibility these days ;)

About ZSurf Texture --> Nurbs

If you have no need to specific modify the volume and only render the volumes
just use SimLabComposer Lite! it's accept iges format! ;)

Else from my little texture above

Of course Moi3D can easily make something like this! ;) (make an array vertical lines then use Boolean Merge)

@Michael :can you integrate inside "ExplodeMove" an 1D, 2D direction for the V4 ?

For the moment here we must use distribute ... with 1D Scale ;)
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=8503.17

Of course if you want each piece as a volume make a general box first and not just a surface like above before the Boolean Merge!

Hi PaQ,

your DistanceToPoint set-up is pretty awesome!

My first try with an imported .iges file from MoI. :-)
(I show the backside, because it looks imho cool)

Hope I can post soon some ideas, with your
file and MoI.

So many possibilities with PaQ's set-up … (where is that PayPal donate button :-))

I tried with a high grid setting (1024x1024) and used a Mandelbrot outline, which
I had created long ago with MoI.

Hi PaQ,

o.k., but you share your knowledge with pretty cool examples,
which I, as a Houdini noob, would not come up with nor find
the required resources easily. ;-) So, thanks for that!

O.k., after a second try I had to render this Mandelbrot, to better see how it would look
like as an image. Looks a bit like chocolate … :-)
