Hi Andrew, you're welcome! I checked out your instagram and those are some really cool sculptures on there!

I just wanted to mention that MoI is a very different type of tool than polygon or brush modeling. MoI is a type of CAD program and there is more of a focus on accuracy and constructing your model from 2D profile curves. You wouldn't want to try and use MoI for things that have lots of little bumpy details in them. You might think of it more along the lines of the type of style you'd see with Adobe Illustrator sort of.

The part that's good about this though is that for the type of model that fits in that category you can make it very quickly since much of the work is done in 2D. Some 2D curves are used to generate your shapes and then other ones used as cutting objects to cut holes or carve off pieces.

But not every kind of model fits into this type of category.

Thanks Michael,

Much appreciated :). Yeah I primarily intend to use MoI as means to create robotic and machine parts to compliment (kit-bash) my sculptures. Right now I have been using Modo and zBrush live booleans for this work, but I feel them lacking in many features that MoI has.

I have been playing around with MoI for a couple weeks now and love some the parts I am getting out of it. Hopefully, I will get to share some of that work soon.

P.S: I just purchased a license for MoI.

Hi Andrew, thanks for your purchase! Yes having a tool that works differently from what you currently have can be quite strategically useful.

If you haven't seen it you might want to check out Chipp Walters' kitbash tutorial for MoI here:

There are also some tips for people coming from a poly modeling background here:

Thanks for sharing the link Michael. I've been meaning to update the link to that site for awhile now-- another casualty of the Dropbox Public folder fiasco.
Here's the new link (and I've updated it in my signature).
