Hi Ralf, so not saving it if you push the "OK" button sounds a little odd. I was thinking it could show if it's in use or not and if it was then you could choose another or push "Cancel" if you didn't want to overwrite it.

Hi Michael!

Some days ago I've seen that Istonia has greatly improved the internal visualization of his NVIL(Poly/Sds modeler)
with a simple but very useful feature : the support of MatCap materials.

I don't know what could be the effort needed to add this feature to the display engine of Moi V4 but if you could do it,
I think that in one shot you will be able to add a great feature that will greatly improve model visualization inside Moi especially useful for concept modelling,
without the need to use any kind of external renderer.

What do you think about it ?

Thanks a lot and have a nice day.

Hi Marco, I'm not really sure exactly what would be involved with that, it would require some studying and investigation to find out. I probably won't be able to devote even that investigation time for the v4 time period since there are many other more frequently requested things but it could be possible at some point in the future.

Hi Michael

For my work (relatively small architecture) MoI is just about perfect and the addition of 64 bit brings it closer.

But ... my highest priority is dimensions and line types (and weights). A print dialog also (particularly to pdf) would really clinch it for me.

I know, you have heard it from me previously and I won't say it again but I really really hope that these will make it into MoI v4.

Keep up the great work.
cheers

eric

I am also hoping for native dimensioning despite max's excellent script. My work involves relatively small structures and dimensional display installations. These require very detailed notations with four decimal dimensions and need to display in and print from orthographic and 3D views. I have been using Max's script (thank you so much Max) and am just getting by with the help of Illustrator and Acrobat... but hope for a native MOI solution.

Hey Michael,

Just thought I'd share this 42 sec video for Fusion 360 showing how well modeling works with Ambient Occlusion. Just a reminder it would be nice to see something like this in V4 :-)

Fascinating and impressive design. Did you create this model, Chipp? And is it an imaginary sci-fi object?

Hi Chipp, it does look cool. I would like to work on that at some point here but for v4 it seems doubtful, there are just so many more fundamental things to address first before I can do the experimentation that would be needed to get a good looking ambient occlusion going. There isn't just one way to do it so it's not like flipping a button or something like that to add it.

Hi Michael,
as requested, here my wishes / suggestions for the V4 (8703.14).
Meanwhile I found out, that most of my whishes can be fullfilled by scrips or hidden commands.
That is the rest, possibly there is alreay a solution, but I didn't found it yet.

Wishes Prio 1:
- select all adjacent 2D curves, by clicking on a non selected segment (see 8703.4). Of course the selection can stop, if there is something non linear like a y-connection at the end/beginning of the next segment. Y-connection in between a segment can also be omitted and only the adjacent segment can be taken.
- a simple possibility to deselect / select all snap modes (no deselecting the snap mode itself). So you can in some cases select a distinct snapmode quickly. There could be a control box for all/none in the snap window and also a scripting possibility for that.
- DXF-layer to MOI-styles import (see 8703.4)

Prio 2
- better debugging window options (see 8703.14)
- make the Browser Objects-window also sortable according to the object-list entries (not only alphabetical).
- get the 2D-curve segments type(circle, polyline, etc.) by script

Suggestions: it is more a "thinking about ...":
- make the side-pane and browser window not only selectable "adjacent, inside ..." but also docable and with landscape and portrait mode. I think for example about people, who work with 2 monitors, they could for example use one for the drawing and the other for the side-pane/browser windows.
- maybe an extra window for the selection of the shortcuts. If you have a lot of shortcuts and do not use them daily, sometimes, a graphical selection from a separat window could be quicker, than searching the shortcuts in your options until you are aware of the keys again.

Best Regards,
Paul

You can do this one currently by doing a right-click on the snap mode. If you right-click on a snap in that menu, it will deselect all the other snaps and leave just that one selected. Later on if you right-click on a snap that is the only active one it will turn all of them back on.

Hi Michael. Thanks for the bug fix, everything works perfectly. I have a question, you can add in the program approximation of the curve by arcs and lines. Or is it difficult?
Vladimir.

Hi Vladimir, I'm not really sure how difficult an arc fitting mechanism is, I've never made one before. Is it important for it to use the least number of arcs possible?

Let this controls the accuracy. You can mix lines and arcs.

Vladimir.

Hello Michael. I'm sorry if I wrote somewhere bad, I communicate through an interpreter. If the translation is bad let me know and I will cease to bother you.
