Nice,i very glad to see how you add improvement.

Hello Michael,
is this update suitable for my Mac or do I need a new OS version?

The terminal command seems to have no effect:
sudo xattr -cr '/Applications/MoI v5 beta Apr-8-2023.app'

MoI just does not start

Greetings
-moritz

Hi Moritz,

The release notes for the previous version say "On Mac 10.14 and higher is supported." http://moi3d.com/forum/messages.php?webtag=MOI&msg=11034.1

It looks like 10.14 is probably compatible with your mid 2012 computer https://eshop.macsales.com/guides/Mac_OS_X_Compatibility

Hi moritz,

re:

You will need a newer OS version, sorry. Apple doesn't really have any priority on compatibility to older releases, so it tends to be difficult to support older OS versions with newer build tools.

The ACIS library that MoI is now using will only run on 10.14 or higher, that's why Moi can't run on 10.13 or lower anymore.

Hi Michael,

A quick question: I did a brief research on ACIS and it seems it is over 3 decades that it is in the business, So, I think it is safe if we assume ACIS is pretty robust, right? However, I noticed there are fillets it cannot do while 123Design can do! is it because of superior fillet engine that 123D uses or is it because of the implementation of ACIS in MOI is in it's early stages?

I don't really have enough information to be able to answer this with certainty yet but it's pretty likely that it's something that needs tuning in how MoI converts model data into and out of ACIS.

Can you please send me (email moi@moi3d.com) the model files for these fillet cases that worked in 123Design but not in MoI currently?

Hello Michael,
thanks for your answer. The update to the new MoI will be quite expensive now, but at some point I had to upgrade my aluminum case. Sensibly invested capital ...

Hi Michael,

I think I have found another fillet case in which ACIS in MOI acts glitchy and slow currently. for example, I have to set a number then ACIS does nothing then I get out of the fillet command and redo the fillet command and it does the fillet also, I had the edge I want to be filleted colored in some cases the produced fillet has colored edges but in other cases, produced fillet edges do have Moi's default style color (fillet radius of 5mm) (NOTE: it is not an issue for me I just think it looks weird)

For example, in the attached file try to get a fillet radius of 3,2 or 1 on the red edge. I hope you will see how it works for me ( when I want to create a fillet radius of 3 it doesn't work first then I do it and after two or three tries it is possible to get the fillet radius of 3mm; for having a fillet radius of 2 mm it gets even harder and it seems fillet radius of 1mm is not possible However, all mentioned fillet radiuses are possible in 123Desgin) Not: sometimes it works right away so, please try it several times like; do a fillet of radius 5 then change it to 3 and vice versa so, you might get the same results I do.

So 123D would be a good standard to evaluate how ACIS should be performing ? Isn't Autodesk using his 'own' version of ACIS ?
Because I can also provide tons of failed scenario compared to parasolid (plasticity), but I doubt it would help anyone :S

Hi PaQ - yes Autodesk uses a geometry library they call "Shape Manager", and it was forked from ACIS about 20 years ago.

Hi Psygorn, thanks for posting the example files, I will investigate those.

This one is fixed now for the next beta.

Thanks, - Michael

Hi Michael,

> This one is fixed now for the next beta.

I ran into another fillet issue but I don't know if it works out in the next beta or not what should I do?

Best,
Psygorn
