Hi Friends
An interesting, at least I think, pattern on a sphere
files at this link :
http://www.mediafire.com/file/rk869828trdbhct/m1-m2_tiling_on_sphere.zip/file
They are two experiments, similar but different
Have a nice day to all

For test the nodeeditor again :)
I took 1/4 of Sphere

Well, not quite a sphere.

Hi Friends
Starting from the file Cosine Bump by Brian
we get this application, editable
with various parameters, on a Sphere ...
thanks Brian ...

Hi,

I have missed the secret HOW you get all these wondeful patterns
so evenly placed onto a sphere - would you like to share it ?

Hi tom,
Most people kindof give the method in their post, they just aren't describing the whole process....

Alot of it is the "node editor" and then you see somebody writes a "node" to do something specific.

"What is a node and the node editor" is the question.

Ok, I see. So is there any script to distribute points / objects
evenly on the surface of a sphere ?

I think Max made one like that, look for "SpherePointsPlus" at his file archive:

Some intriguing and intricate patterns are possible with Wayne's SubDclassic node (based on Max's exceptional script) applied to vector-spherized irregular polyhedrons.

Since it is been a long time since there has been a post to this interesting thread, I post this example.

Have a great weekend

Node based on Michael's surface extension script:

Hi James,

this is a marvelous pattern!

Thanks Mik,

"this is a marvelous pattern!"

These patterns are simply derived from subdividing triangular facetted surfaces,
with the judicious application of "Tri2quad" option. However despite their ease of
generation, they can form quite beautiful aperiodic patterns.

Here's another example with surface relief.

Ken,

"I am breathless...."

Be careful, you don't want health authorities to misconstrue you,
whilst in the midst of this pandemic :)

But seriously, thank you for your kind words,
it really lifted my spirits.

Best wishes to you too.

James, I have to repeat myself, but you are realy Node Master.

You inspire me to save some time for exploration of Node Editor in more detail :-)

Thanks

"... time for exploration of Node Editor..."

I encourage you to do so,
it can be frustration at first,
but stick with it,
because once you break through,
it is an incredibility rewarding pursuit.

Persistence is key!
