buzhug's wip

Hello everybody.
I don't know if we can do that, but I would like to show you a current wip.
I think MoI is really very great, and I think too Michael is a genius.
I use cinema 4d, but with this, some shapes are difficult to realize. Not impossible but not easy. I discovered MoI since oct 2006, and i'm impressed by the great evolution. I make progress thanks to the help of Michael and Pilou. So I decide to try a wip to exercize me to MoI, but too to try a work between MoI and cinema4d. so I decided to take an example, with an at-at, that we can see in a little unknown movie ;-)
You can see the beginning here
http://www.frenchcinema4d.fr/forum/index.php?topic=19862.0
Sorry, it's in french, but you can see only the pictures if you want ;-)
I think this wip in frenchcinema4d allows to some people to discover MoI, and the possibilities between the two softs. It's a pleasure for me to make discover moi to other people.

So, if you want, I can put here the evolution of this tests. It's a good exercize for me to improve my practice of MoI, but also my english :-) I think this can be interesting to explorate the possibilies between 2 great softs.
And I hope it can be useful for some people.
I don't know if we can post wip here.
If you think it's not the place to do this, you can erase my thread.

The beginning :
the leg :

and a fast render in c4d :

For the moment, i create objects without fillet to have a "light" version of the modele.

Best.

Sorry for my english.

Hi Buzhug,

Great work! This is a very interesting project!

I'm also slowly working on a MOI3D Mech which I plan to rig and animate within trueSpace7.51. Creating Mech parts in MOI is so easy and intuitive it makes the workflow very nice!

If WIP projects like this are OK here it would also be nice to see your comments along with these pictures to explain how MOI was used for various related procedures too!

Very nice!

Bonjour Buzhug,

Certainly, yes please do post WIPs here, it is a lot of fun to see them!

If you guys start to do quite a lot of them then I'll make a different forum folder for them, but for now I think it is just simple to have everything all in one spot.

Even your "light" no fillet version has a nice amount of detail on it. It's off to a great start, I'm looking forward to seeing the next steps!

- Michael

[3dvisuals dude] : thanks a lot. I hope too to animate the at-at, but first the modeling ;-)
I hope to see your work.
I will try to explain in detail the modeling, in the limit of my english :-)

[Pilou] : Coucou Pilou :-)

[Michael] : Hello Michael. Thanks a lot. I'm happy to see your comments. I hope that this wip will be the first of thousand :-)
I will try to show the differents steps of the creation. It's sure than I make errors, but i hope that everybody can correct me, and to learn.

So, I'm stopping to speak, and go to the pictures :

The continuation of the leg :
the shapes are quite simple.

Dear BuzHug
Can you explain in what this modeling is more easy in Moi than in C4D with "Hyper nurbs" or other tools?

Héhé.
You're a little teasing, Pilou. Not easy to explain.
I try with an simple example :
To arrive to this box, with C4d, one of methods is to create a box, to edit it, put it in a HN (HyperNurbs), select the face from the top of the box, and inner extrude, extrude, ... and knife to create the bevels. It's not really fast.
The result :

With MoI : One box, copy paste, scale, boolean, and Fillet. That's all. Very fast.
The result :

The render in C4d of the two objects :

But, for me, the two methods are their advantages and disadvantages.
With C4d, the advantage is than after the creation, all can be modified. but the creation is longer.
But with MoI, the advantage, for me, is the easiness to create complex technical objects, and it's a pleasure to create with the efficient boolean. But, after export, the file is bigger.

In fact, all depends of the objects. For "soft" objects, I think C4d better. But for technical objects, and with objects than we know they will not to be modified, MoI is better.
I think the two softs are complementary. It's for that I try to mix the creation of differents objects of the at-at.

But I repeat, MoI is a fantastic soft (like c4d of course), wich became quickly essential. :-)

I hope you will understand what I'll try to explain.
