Hi Michael,
I can confirm that this does appear to be an intermittent bug -
Here's what I've noticed:
- MoI will refuse to do a boolean op, doesn't seem to matter which op is being attempted.
- It only happens after I've been using MoI for 2-3 hours straight.
- The forms being operated on don't seem to matter. Extruded forms, swept forms, primitive solids, all the same problem.
- I've had this bug pop up maybe 3 or 4 times over the last few months, so it's a fairly rare bug, and doesn't seem to have any consistent pattern of when and why it happens.
The solution that i've worked out is to save the file, close MoI, restart MoI, load the file, and then the boolean op I'm attempting will work fine.
Hope this helps!

Paul

Hi Paul, that does help. I didn't quite understand that it was a problem with all attempted booleans after a certain point.

This sounds like some kind of memory corruption problem due to some bug in the booleans. For the next beta I've added a type of "reset" when there is a failure in a command which should let the next command start with a fresh blank slate.

This will probably not stop the initial failure, but I think it should solve the problem of additional booleans not working.

But I can't really be sure though since I can't reproduce the bug. Please let me know if you run into this type of behavior again after the next beta and I will try something else...

Thanks,

- Michael

It definitely looks like a meshing bug, I'm going to look at it some more tomorrow.

Hi Pilou, I looked at it some more but haven't got a fix for it yet, I'll be trying some more again tomorrow.

Hi Pilou, I was able to fix this mesh export bug for the next beta. Thanks for sending it in!

Also I have finished tuning up revolve, so that if you have a planar shape that is just very slightly away from the revolve axis, it will move it exactly in line with the axis to avoid problems at the pole area like in that other revolve problem earlier.
