Revolve Q

(on a phone.. searching is rough.. etc)

when using Revolve, is there a way to set the angle interactively(?) without entering the numbers.. similar to how Rotate works?

currently, when I need to revolve a surface to an unknown angle, I'll over-spin it then draw cutting planes to trim the excess.

is there a better way?
thanks

hello Jeff
Make any revolve
Select the generator curve
Show points
And move points ?

But maybe i don't understand "revolve a surface" ?
An image is always better than some words (aespecially for a French guy :D

Ok I see : my method is not good for that :)

Hi Jeff!

You could try a RAIL REVOLVE with a corresponding ARC as rail..advantage would be, that you can set the ARC angle via mouse using snaps..but not really interactive..

Another thing ;)

Draw your profil view Front (first point on the ground)

Take the Arc by Center view 3D
Center is the center of anything you want
First point is the bottom of the Profil on the ground
Second point is visually interactivity moving backwards and forwards as you want (same than Rotation)
with snap with anything you want without input numeric value :)
Then Sweep Profil / Arc ;)

PS Seems that is quasi the same method of Marco above :)

cool. thanks guys.

Both of those work ok for me. im getting a slight difference between the two methods but that could be my sweep settings being wrong.

rail revolve seems a little more trustworthy for me right now until I gain some more familiarity with moi's sweep.
