It's semi-automatic because you draw by hand all general forms!
Pros win a maximum time of productivity for any purposes
No Pros have the pleasure of the creativity even they have not an artistic background! ;)

Seems to me a very cool tool given by the technology!

Hi Pilou!

Yes! Very cool and smart UI.
A very good start pointing to build a modern UX for an immersive device like the iPad Pro.
I've tried a little bit that App on my Pro and i like the idea of this UX for a digital painting app.
But I've also uninstalled the app after some minutes because actually, apart for the very smart idea behind its UI, actually it's a too coarse app. Nothing more than an experiment.

Clearly nothing near to super powerful apps like Procreate or Artstudio Pro.
Mile miles away from them...

But Borodante did A GREAT JOB when he thought to a UX like this.
Great idea!

De-Lighter
free stand-alone tool designed to remove shadows from model textures.
The tool is targeted on removing cast shadows and ambient occlusion from 3D models.
It requires user input in a form of rough brush strokes marking lit and shadowed areas.

Thanks Marco,

How does 3DCoat work with MoI3D?
Is zbrush better?

I see it is $100 off for a few days.

Hi Brian,

I think it depends on your use case. If you are an Industry
Professional people go with ZBrush. If you are a hobbyist
people go with 3DCoat.

I have both and I love Zbrush much much more than 3DCoat.

The brushes in ZBrush are more fluid and ZBrush can handle
on small machines much more geo than 3DCoat.

The only thing were 3DCoat is better is in it's
PBR painting tool set and image to mesh functionallity.

And last but not least, 3DCoat is in permanent beta state ...
So always little bugs which will be fixed in the next beta and
so on.

Regards
Stefan

Hello Brian!

3DC is overall a great choice!
If you have a capable machine (with good CPU/GPU) it can offer a very powerful environment with tons of tools.
Maybe it's UI can be still a little messy in some aspects and, as said by Stefan, some of its powerful tools are still in beta, but its PBR Painting Room and its Voxels and also other tools are amazing.

As said by Stefan "...If you are an Industry Professional people go with ZBrush.".
This is actually true.

But the second part of the phrase "...If you are a hobbyist people go with 3DCoat"

I don't know how or where Stefan took this idea, but many many professional artists and designers, especially for game industry, uses 3DC daily into their pipelines with GREAT results.

It depends on what you have to do, but at that price tag, 3DC is a cornucopia of very powerful tools!

Hi Marco,

sorry, I meant more the price tag, which is affordable for hobbyist,
compared to the price tag of ZBrush. And yes, it is true about
Game Industry Professionals, which I forgot to mention, because
I have no overview of the Gaming World, sorry!

Regards
Stefan

No problem Stefan! :)
I only wanted (hoped) to give a more complete view over 3DC.

Both ZB and 3DC are amazing tools!
ZB is super powerful but also it has a steeper learning curve.

There is a little difference for 3D Coat: you can modelize entierely from "Voxel" (microscopic cubes)
and at the end transform in classical OBJ polygonal format.

ZBrush has not this function (only hidden for the user for few functions (Unify Skin, ShadowBox...)
And modelise by ZBrush "Shadow Box" Plane by Plane is not the same than 3dCoat
Another difference : 3D Coat has a classical Interface! ;)
