Thanks for this V2!

And as the "GUI Aesthetics" thread is closed, I put my "2 cent" comment here: the GUI interface is probably one of the best UI I've ever seen for a software, especially for a 3D modeler... The power of this modeler hidden behind its simplicity of use is definitely a great asset.

Thanks Michael G.!!!

I just purchased my V2 upgrade about an hour ago.

Keep up the great work! You have created an incredible tool here, and I am proud to help support it and you!

Sincerely,

Michael T.

Hi there, especially hi Michael Gibson,

I have been looking into the forum for some time now, but unfortunately never found time to participate. Since it is impossible to describe in words how *great* MoI is ;), I just skip this point and will - now, with the great news that the v2 is out - just post my questions regarding this

> the v2 upgrade version requires a v1 license key in addition
> to the v2 one that you get but any v1 license key will be
> valid for the upgrade including v1 edu licenses.

issue. Firstly, you should have heard my crow/yell of happiness when I read this paragraph - I thought I would get stuck with my educational version that I bought [when I had to look carefully for which things I spent how much money]. Now [, with more money available,] if I understood it right, it seems to be possible to get a full commercial version that I could use in business without purchasing a *complete new* v2 version for 295 $.

If so, will I get any disadvantage in *future* versions (after v2), when I purchase a v2 update now (update from v1-EDU to v2)? I guess I have to always input the old license keys when installing new versions (if there will be any) in the future, so those future version could tell from the key(s) if there has been some educational or only normal versions in the history. So maybe I "get stuck" ;) later because my first MoI was only educational? Hopefully not (?).

The second thing is: I purchased the educational version via studica. Do I have to also purchase the commercial upgrade there or can I also buy it from the homepage directly?

With kind regards,

Red*Star

Hi Red*Star, I'm glad that you like MoI! :)

Yes, that's correct - if you have already purchased a v1 edu license, you do not need to purchase the "full" v2 commercial version, you can get the upgrade commercial v2 version instead. The upgrade version will require you to also have a v1 license key and your v1 edu license key will work fine for that.

But actually you can even use your v1 educational version for business purposes - only students or educators can buy the edu version but you can use it for whatever work you want including commercial work.

> If so, will I get any disadvantage in *future* versions (after v2),

Nope, there won't be any disadvantage to doing this (v1 edu to regular v2 upgrade).

> I guess I have to always input the old license keys when installing

Yes, that's the one thing to keep in mind with upgrade versions, you will need to keep the license key from the previous version because you will need to enter it at install time.

I haven't really worked out yet what will happen with v3 upgrades, but I think that probably you'll only have to enter your license key from the previous version only (any kind of key - upgrade, edu, whatever) and not have to go all the way back to your v1 key at that time.

I have no plans to penalize you if your original v1 version was an edu version.

You can buy the commercial upgrade version from either place, it will be the same.

But if you are still a student, you can buy the v2 edu upgrade version from Studica, it's half off the regular v2 upgrade version. There is no restriction on the kind of work that you can do with the edu version.

Hnhf... Wow... I didn't realize that when I buyed the first version. Normally "educational" means "restricted in use"... that's really great! [*]

And this is even greater then...

And, combined with [*], still greater! :DD

Finally, thank you very much for the answers. My order has just been placed :).

With kind regards,

When I had found out that Michael no longer worked at McNeel (which I had always thought was his company during Rhino v1 development) - I opt'd not to upgrade my Rhino v2 to v3 - and this was before I had heard about MoI! :-P

You can imagine how happy I was when I finally discovered that Michael was back at it with Moi! ;-)

Hi andras, also if you need more time after the last v2 beta expires, the v2 trial version would give you another 30 days time after that.
