Curve through points - can the points be locked?

Hi All,

I've attached a simple image which I hope illustrates what I'd like to achieve. I want to draw a curve which passes through a series of points. In the attached pic, the tips of the triangles serve as these points. What I'd like to do is manipulate the control points to change the shape of the curve but still ensure that the curve passes through the 4 points. Is this possible in any way?

Thanks

Mike

Hi mikerogers74,

A Draw curve/Through points method exists in tools...
Draw the curve, trim with triangles as cutting objects, select all result curves, join.

Hi Mike,

This is just a possible workaround.

Draw a line, then copy that line midpoint to top of each triangle (I have used cones)

Draw control point spline as shown.

Select the 3 points/line on top to adjust (with V2 you can use the manipulator to scale/rotate)

Other control points can be added if needed.

The control points on each side of the point on top of the cone do not need to be eqa distant, just need to be in line and be rotated/scaled from the center/top of cone.

This method does add extra weight to the curve, which may not be wanted.

Hi Mike, in the future I would like to have a deeper history function that would allow you to see the original "through points" that you had picked to create that curve and allow you to manipulate them.

But that kind of "through point" editing is not currently available in MoI - instead if you want to change the curve to go through some different points you would generally need to delete the curve, and then draw in a new "curve through points" passing through those updated points.
