Just a reminder - MoI will be at SIGGRAPH 2008 in booth #1066.

Also MoI will be installed on the machines in the SIGGRAPH Studio area, and I will be giving a presentation there at 6:15pm on Tuesday Aug 12.

If you're going to SIGGRAPH stop by to say hi!

I wish i could go. I'm fairly new to 3D.
Is there a similar convention in the Bay Area every year?

Well, with the sinking dollar it's not a lot of money these days! : (
You should wish Michael one million Euro for all his efforts!!!

I'll be out at SIGGRAPH for this whole next week (Aug 11 2008 - Aug 15 2008). I'll try to check in here but there may be some delays before I can reply to stuff during this next week.

Thanks Val! I've got a much nicer booth this year than previously, including some images from the MoI gallery thanks to PaQ, Daniele, Marc Tellier, and Eric Guneriussen.

Oh man, I wish I would have known about it sooner, I would have finished that cyborg I been working on to show off MoI's freedom when it comes to modeling. Is it too late to enter an image or a render?

Hi Val, well SIGGRAPH is all wrapped up now, but certainly any images that have models made in MoI are always welcome in the MoI gallery here: http://moi3d.com/gallery/

Hi Anis, Hi PaQ, I didn't get any photos at SIGGRAPH itself (forgot to bring my camera), but I did get some at home when I was practicing setting up my booth:

It's a little hard to see here but each of the gallery images has the author printed in the bottom of it.

Also one change was that I got the text poster redone about 50% larger from what you see here.

Then at SIGGRAPH I had a wide conference table in front of that wall, with a computer and wide screen monitor on it to give demos on.

It was a much nicer setup than I've had at any previous one, having that collapsible wall to velcro stuff on to was really nice.

Quite a lot of people stopped by to check out MoI - a lot that had not heard of it before so it was really great to go there to reach some more people!

There were quite a variety of people who stopped by, some industrial designers, jewelers, people using animation and rendering tools looking for something to supplement their toolset, people starting out in CNC milling, several educators, some architects, some people from the press, several grad students doing research work on User Interface stuff, ...

One designer mentioned he originally thought that MoI was just a toy but after he saw the depth of functionality especially in construction lines he was just completely blown away, like eyes bugging out of his head practically... :) The amount of functionality in that area tends to really surprise people because MoI's construction lines has quite a lot of unique stuff.

Also a few MoI users stopped by, it was great to meet some people in person!

MoI was also installed on all the machines in the "Studio" which was much expanded this year - it is an area with a bunch of different gear and computers where people can go to mess around and try stuff out. I also gave a lecture/presentation in the studio one evening as well.

Overall a very successful (and tiring from talking nonstop!) conference I would say.

- Michael

Also another good thing was just getting a lot of testing in on the latest v2 beta by using it non-stop all day long for 3 days. It's definitely looking really good after that last bug fix.

Total stability (0 crashes running one beta instance all day long each day) and definitely seems to have improved a noticeable notch in filleting and shelling, although there is certainly still plenty of room to improve more no doubt.

So that was great as well, definitely have a strong feeling that v2 is going on a great track right now, also showed off many of the new v2-specific features to people and those went over really well also.

Hi Michael,

> Total stability....

Yeah, I noticed how stable V2 beta is while I'm giving it a go on a model with several assembled parts with different modeling challenges in each part.
Looking good Michael.

Cheers

Congrats Michael, continued success and profit from your great product!

I have to say I was modeling the other day and the fillets were just working, working, WORKING!

Where as I'd always pause a bit, or be scared "will it fillet??" before doing them, with the latest beta, I was just selecting my surfaces or edges and just filleting away - it was working so well it was noticable! (If that makes any sense :-P )

Quite a few people commented that they really liked those models.
