Command Palettes?

I typically run MOI in full screen, and there is a lot of empty space above and below the command palettes on the right. It would be nice if I could separate some of those so they would always be in view, rather than having to switch between them. For example, if I wanted to see "construct" and "transform" displayed at the same time. I only count 9 total palettes, which isn't that many. It would be nice if they were separate, rather than grouped as they are now, so they could be expanded or collapsed individually. Is there any way to do that, or possibly an option for V5? I installed V5 beta briefly, but didn't see any change in how these appear.

Thanks,
Rusty

Hi Rusty, yes it's possible to make the side pane palettes all separated, see here for a startup script you can install that will do that:

You can also set the scene browser to be located inside the command palette side pane instead of in a separate pane. To do that set Options > General > "Scene browser position" = Inside.

Thanks Michael. That's certainly a step in the right direction. It would be nice if you could set the default of which palettes were open without the htm editing, though I might try that some day. Is there any way to eliminate the wasted space at the top of that section? I don't think I've ever seen anything there, and it would give more room for palettes.

Hi Rusty,

It's possible to do this in the startup script. Which ones do you want to be open by default?

There's actually a lot of stuff that goes there, when you run a command the options for the command are shown in that area:

And if you're not running a command but have an object selected the object properties go there:

Since there is stuff being shown there all the time it keeps some space there reserved so the palettes don't jump around as much.
