I will try also the free DesignSparkMechanical ;)

and the free BricsCad Shape (not sure this one will be so strong than others but...)
https://www.bricsys.com/en-intl/shape/
And Jean Nouvel is monitoring! :)

Hi pilou, when I evaluated designspark (among others) I had to rule it out as the import formats seemed
really limited, no pdf or dxf on import. People on forums from 3 years ago asking. Maybe it's coming as dxf and pdf are now export formats in v5 and they already import in designspark ecad which is developed by easypc/numerical innovations/pulsonix.

I don't believe there is DXF even inside the costly Exchange module! ;)

Yes it was also a disclaimer on the designspark main page from RS components...
"Clarification: the paid add-ons do not provide AutoCAD DXF or DWG import capability"
https://www.rs-online.com/designspark/introducing-the-new-designspark-mechanical-add-on-modules

The " text point file" import looked interesting but I'm not faffing about with yet another workaround,
for what should be a simple 2d 》3d workflow ( I think moi is going to do fine :0)

Hi zarkow,
So you should find that filleting in fusion 360 now, which you can use for free too.

Have you looked at that yet?

If you have a test case and want to see the result from there, i will test for you....

Autodesk migrated all those things together into the "360" bundle. Should be the same powerful engine.

@ Stephano

I don't know if that interest you but the free DesignSparkMechanical 5.0 has a DXF 2D export!
(and a PDF 3D export! ;)

Here from a Moi Solid (exported to DSM in Step format then Exported from DSM in 2D DXF ) :)

and here your Moi Solid in your 3D PDF favorite! :)

So ...some variations (prefere Booelan Union before export Step format from Moi)

I'd gladly pay a higher price for MoI if it had a more advanced Fillet library.

Is it possible to have fillet engine of MOI on Github or somewhere where people who has the knowledge could contribute into making it a much more robust fillet engine? (Just a thought ;)

this video shows how to unlock the possibility of import STEP to Design Spark Mechanical 5.0 (without any paid addons). This way allows you to edit STEP geometry inside the free version of DSM.

There is also a trick on how to export geometry in the free version of DSM.

You should save the file as a native *.rsdoc file. After that, you should change the extension of this file from "rsdoc" to "zip". After changing it to zip you should go inside and find a file with extension "sab" and unzip it.

Next you should use SabSatConverter.exe (command line) which is DSM folder (f.e. C:\Program Files\DesignSpark\DesignSpark Mechanical 5.0\SabSatConverter.exe -i f:\input.sab -o f:\output.sat)

Sat you may import to MoI. So free DSM allows you to import and export :)

Edit: @PILOU: How do you imported solid to BricsCAD shape? I can see there only *.skp file import,

Briscad Shape : yes it's very easy Moi to it : there is an direct export SKP from Moi! ;)

BricsCad to Moi : more complicated because it has only DWG (numerous versions), DXF, DAE,FBX,STL but not SKP or OBJ
The dxf is maybe not sufficient for some pieces!
So you must make some conversions somwhere!

It's more for make a nice form in Moi then makes cool fillets then export DAE or FBX for any polygons monsters like Blender ...
...or direct render...in some cool free one like Twinmotion :)

@Christian,

if you use Windows, I still have 123 Design and use it.

Let me know and I send you the 123_Design_R2.2_WIN64_2.2.14.exe Installer.

Or google for it, because some official sites still offer a download link.

Stefan

Hi Psygorn,

371 MB. I would try to send via WeTransfer,
but for that I need your email address.

Stefan
