Hi Metin and alll,

have you already tried ZRemesher v3? I have not downloaded yet, but i am
very curious how it would remesh the models Michael has posted.

Stefan

BTW. i have just seen that there is an online version of Quadriflow.

Quadriflow online : seems you can't upload your own model for quadrangulate it?

Else Zbrush seems robust :)

Sorry, overlooked it ...

So can you try ZRemesher v3 please, with the models Michael provided?

Hi Stefan, Pilou and others,

Being in one of my many wrestling matches with the dreaded deadline monster, I regret not having found the time yet to try ZBrush 2019.

From what I've seen in the Pixologic introduction video I’m reasonably excited about ZBrush 2019. Personally I can’t wait to have a go at ZRemesher 3.0 with the new hard surface improvements. The subtool folders are great too, also the ability to use them in Live Boolean mode.

I feel a bit ambivalent about the Spotlight alpha mesher feature. It feels a bit like a revisit of the old Shadowbox, a feature I usually forget during modeling.

The NPR rendering possibilities look very good, but to me that also feels like going back in time about 10 to 15 years, back when finalToon, Pencil+ and Liquid+ were state-of-the-art 3ds Max NPR plug-ins.

Any tips and observations regarding ZBrush 2019 are welcome.

Thanks!

M7

Have you the OBJ files triangulated of objects concerned ?
Can you post them...
I have not yet the last Zbrush version, but I can make test them by someones! :)

@Metin,

No problem, i will see that i can try downloading ZBrush this afternoon.

@Pilou,

Michael has posted the original NURBS models, so you only have to load
them into MoI and then save as .obj.

However, when i come home i will try to download ZBrush and try myself then.

O.k., did a quick and not so much in-depth test.

The first object looks very good, while the second object has
some issues with the small ribs. I may have to check out
better settings, while i must also admit why to remesh such
objects … , when one could either use the .obj files from MoI
or model them directly with ZModeler …

Hi Stefan, those are some good results!

> I may have to check out better settings, while i must also admit why to remesh such objects …

Well people ask for an "all quads" output from MoI pretty frequently, and these are the kinds of objects where it's difficult to do that (while also being not unusual CAD models as well) so it's a good example of why MoI does not have that function currently.

How these 2 objects have been transformed into OBJ format ? from what start format ? With what program ?

Hi Michael,

yes, I understand what you mean. Maybe people requesting such a feature are used to
subd modeling only, prior they discovered NURBS modeling and see a need for this?

But I have never read from them what purpose a quad only CAD model should serve.

Best regards

Hi Pilou,

Michael posted the files in article 8817.23 of this thread. You only need to load
the models into MoI and then export from MoI as .obj, to load into ZBrush.

I have missed the posts...

The original files are NURBS models, saved from MoI as
high-res quad/tries .obj meshes and then brought into
ZBrush for ZRemesher.

I don't remember if ZBrush accepts the Ngons ?

Haven't tried yet with 2019, but i remember from the past
it did not like ngons.

For this example i used quad/tris output from MoI.

Hi Stefan,

Some people have the idea all quads = always good for everything, not all quads = always bad for everything. That can kind of get drilled in for people who have been very focused on sub-d modeling only for quite a while.

There is only that works not! (tell me if you see the images)

I don't know if the problem is from Moi (Nurbs to OBJ) or new ZBrush algorithm...

Inside Moi I take Maximum number of Polygons default, export only triangles and subdivide Larger than 2 unity / All

that was more false then less polygons and no subdivide Larger than

Inside ZBrush it's not me that make the test! (not yet install new zbrush)
Inside ZBrush : Import obj
Polygroups / Normals
Crease / Crease PG borders
KeepGroups & Keep Creases activated
SmoothGroups = 0

a new test must be arrived with a subdivide Larger than 1 unity / All
