You're welcome Alberto!

If I may, let me give you only one little suggestion, that maybe you already know.

If you want, you could post a simple capture of Moi's screen with some, or at least, one use case of the wanderful nodes you're post here from time to time.
In this way it's easier for any user to get a quick look of what that particular node does.
And also the user is "encouraged" to download the stuff and play with it.

My two cents :)

Thanks for all your wanderful nodes!

Ciao.

Hi Friends
I want to share this Macro with you, certainly useful I Hope
M_Pipe
input:
-curves
-radius
- cap round =0
- cap flat = 1
If the input curves overlap the result
it is only one Brep-
file at this Link :

have a nice evening to all

Hi I need some help (as usual),
I'm using James Retop nod to generate the facets for Sub D smoothing as the Zarkow method.
I create surfaces and name them. Then using the 'get by name' selector step thro them one by one
adjusting Iso 'u-v' as required and applying the faceted results.
however sometimes the facets are connected out of order (see photo's) usually in the Iso 'u' direction.
however if I rebuild the surface (unnamed) it works correctly.
I'm using Max's latest nodeeditor and have attached Surfaces and nod files.
Cheers
Barry

Hi Barry,

I'm sorry about this bug in my macro. I have encountered this issue before with a similar macro: "Surface&Tile", and attempted a work around. I have pared back said macro and included it in attached .nod file.
The only remaining issue is that U & V isocurves are at times flipped relative to neighbouring patch, but this only requires switching between inputs. See attached image.

Hope this helps
James

Hi James,
thanks for the new file works great and with the ability to switch Iso 'u-v' it's a bonus.
It greatly reduces the time to use Zarkow's method of smoothing transitions between
connected surfaces by Sub D.
I have already started a thread on it so will post the process using the nodeeditor
and your nod file.
Hopefully it will show advantages of using the nodeeditor.
Many thanks
Barry

Where can someone find a step by step tutorial of how to use the node editor? Any link somewhere?

Thanks.

Hi James.

Thanks, but...where is this folder ? "~/Library/Application Support/Moi/nodeeditor/macros"

I have a Windows machine and my folders for Node Editor are :

1) For Moi V4 : C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Moi\<node editor folder>

2) For Moi V3 : C:\Program Files (x86)\MoI 3.0\ui\<node editor folder>

Any help ?

Thanks.

Hi Marco,

Sorry the directory path was for a mac.

So rather it would be (for Moi V4)
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Moi\nodeeditor\macros\retopoSurfs.nod

If there is not already a "macros" folder, make one.

Let me know if this doesn't work. I don't really know my way around PCs

Thanks a lot James!

I've tested in V4 and it works :)

Does it work also with the latest Nodeditor for MoiV3 ?

Thanks.

P.S.

I've made some experiment....what a wonderful Swiss-Army-knife for some situations where I simply want to turn a single surface to ALL QUADS!!!

Thank you very much!!!!

Hi James,
just tried to run nod on half sphere surface and just a tangled result.
Are there any restrictions on what surfaces the nod can be applied to.
Update once surface goes wrong all following selections go wrong as well
even those that previously worked correctly.
Cheers

Hi Barry

<< Are there any restrictions on what surfaces the nod can be applied to.>>

Yes, it will only work with 4 edged surface patches.

<< just tried to run nod on half sphere surface and just a tangled result.>>

This is a difficult one because you can't start with sphere solid, because it won't work with trimmed surfaces.
Attached is method for retopologizing a 3 edged hemisphere made by networked curves.

Hi James,
Ok that’s good will stipulate the 4 edge requirement in my other post.
However the concern I have is once a surface that does not meet that
requirement causes the macro to crash and the following correct
surfaces also crash. It would be good if a reset within the nod was possible.
The only way I see to reset the nod file is to close and reopen Moi ?
Anyway thanks for your help I think your macro is well worth developing.
Only wish I had the knowledge to be more help.

Hi Barry

Can you send me the .3dm file so that I may reproduce the error
and perhaps find a work around.

Thanks

Hi James,
I'm using the file I posted(http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=7777.987)
Just added a sphere and trimmed it on it's seam to make a dome surface and named it S8.
From the photo you can see the tangled result of the dome and when S7 was next applied
you can see it is also wrong.
I noticed the surfaces spike to drawing origin.

Hi All,

I feel nodeeditor has been neglected, so this weekend I decided I would play around with it.
Below is an unintended result of that play.

The other attachments are also outcomes of the same nod circuit:" surfTria.nod".

Have a great weekend
James
