If you have straight snap toggled on the bottom task bar when you grab the object rotate widget in view it will snap to 90 and 180 when you rotate it

You have also this transformation... depending of what do you want...
use other windows than 3D !

Result in real time in the 3D window !

Transform > Mirror might be what you want.
