tnx...sometimes I get lost in 3d lol

one more thing how would I be above the points and select them?
It seems that when I try to select a bunch of them I select the surface as well...and I need to do them one by one.

also attached sas.3dm is there a more efficient way to do this?
if I remember correctly did some sweep,,,in the middle offset the line both sides..boolean cut then blend...
what would be a more efficient approach?

another way I was thinking of doing this is to cut from a solid block with a "pipe" created by sweep and then fillet the edges...
now the other question I have is if I create a pipe by sweep or other method can I change the size between the start and the finish by a guide or scaling rail?
I saw it somewhere...

Tnx~

Hi Matadem,

You could zoom out to find an empty area to click, or you could hide the surface so it would not be in the way, or you could hold down Shift+Ctrl while starting the window selection.

When Shift+Ctrl is down the first pick will always start a window select, it doesn't need to be on an empty area.

Yes you can make a pipe shape using one rail sweep and control the cross-sectional size by a scaling rail:
