Good day.

So I trying to create2 surfaces that will transition into each other...I made 2 surfaces and blend these.

is this the best or fastest way to do this or what other options do I have?

Tnx.

Hi Matadem, could you please post the .3dm file with your surfaces?

Thanks, - Michael

Here is another one since I have deleted the og.

I am also trying to under stand why I cannot blend the 3rd curve?...
trying to make smooth transition to the beigger surface

Hi Matadem, which one is the 3rd curve?

But your small surface here has "poles" at the ends where control points collapse down to a single point:

It can be better to make a dome type surface using revolve or rail revolve.

Select this profile curve:

Run Construct > Revolve > Rail revolve.

Uncheck "Cap ends" option, and pick this as the rail curve:

Pick revolve axis in Z axis direction:

That should make a well behaved blend then.

Tnx I am trying to cut a shape into it as well.

But what is not letting me get my line tangent to the circle for smooth transition?

Hi Matadem,

Is it this curve here?

One problem is that curve and the circle are not on the same plane, they are on different z levels:

You can get them on the same plane by selecting them and then run Transform >Align and pick in the Front view.

Then if you want to edit the curve to be tangent to the circle, create a tangent line from the circle:

The first 2 control points of the curve must be on that line for it to have the same tangent as the circle at that point:

Also if you cut the circle so it is an arc that ends at that spot you can use Construct > Blend like this:

tnx...sometimes I get lost in 3d lol

one more thing how would I be above the points and select them?
It seems that when I try to select a bunch of them I select the surface as well...and I need to do them one by one.

also attached sas.3dm is there a more efficient way to do this?
if I remember correctly did some sweep,,,in the middle offset the line both sides..boolean cut then blend...
what would be a more efficient approach?

another way I was thinking of doing this is to cut from a solid block with a "pipe" created by sweep and then fillet the edges...
now the other question I have is if I create a pipe by sweep or other method can I change the size between the start and the finish by a guide or scaling rail?
I saw it somewhere...

Tnx~

Hi Matadem,

You could zoom out to find an empty area to click, or you could hide the surface so it would not be in the way, or you could hold down Shift+Ctrl while starting the window selection.

When Shift+Ctrl is down the first pick will always start a window select, it doesn't need to be on an empty area.

Hi Matadem,

Maybe 2 rail sweep:

Yes you can make a pipe shape using one rail sweep and control the cross-sectional size by a scaling rail:
