Why is there this difference between the drawn and measured (displayed) length?

Hi Bodo-Lutz, it's because the rectangle isn't a true rectangle. It's either rotated or skewed a little so it's more like a trapezoid.
If you draw a new rectangle from corner to corner on top of it you should see it is different:
