Would it be possible to add instancing to FBX meshes on Export ?
Hundreds of bolts etc can really tank an export :/
It would be EXTREMELY usefull :) (I've hoped for years that it might)

Hi Rico,

It is possible but there are a lot of steps that need to be finished first before that could happen.
Stuff like designing the UI for managing instances, deciding whether they should behave like Rhino/AutoCAD blocks or should they be like SketchUp where they can be connected to another object.
So there is a lot of work involved to get to that point.

With great responsibility comes great power...Or something like that...I know I know I just got to keep hitting that request once every few years *tear emoji

From AI:
In both Rhino and SketchUp, "blocks" (or their equivalents) are used to group and reuse geometric elements. In Rhino, blocks are similar to groups but more closely resemble SketchUp's components, allowing for linked, editable instances. SketchUp's components are easily understood and used by beginners, while Rhino blocks offer more flexibility and integration with other design software.
It could be useful to open some discussion regarding this theme.
IMO ... "more flexibility and integration with other design software" is quite good starting point
