Hi Spartan,
If you look at help/About Moi, you will see Expires on Nov-28-2025
Have fun !

Got it.
Incidentally, is there a way to set an expiration date for the program so that it won't expire, or is that a server-side thing?

Beta versions are set up to expire but the full version won't.

Allow me to clarify: I meant my question in regards to beta builds.

Hi Spartan,

Beta builds are designed to expire.
Once the beta test period is complete there will be a non-beta full release made and the full release versions do not expire.
Thanks, - Michael

Right, right. What I'm asking is how the programming handles that bit. Is there a specific file that contains the expiration date and relevant code? And if that's the case, can the files be modified?
Just curious.
(I'd also like to apologize if I seem like I'm not making sense. I struggle with phrasing my queries in a clear manner, as a neurodivergent individual.)
(side note: thanks for adding SVG import/export. I use MoI as part of my workflow for vector graphics and 3D animation, in addition to CAD. Adding SVG import/export makes it much easier, especially since I don't have to worry about any loss of data - and thus, potential loss of detail - when using intermediary formats like PDF like I used to.)

Hi Spartan,
re:

Yes, it's part of the code in the main program module file moi_lib.dll .
> And if that's the case, can the files be modified?
Yes, it's possible to do that, it's called "cracking":
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_cracking
But usually it's done by people who are distributing pirated versions of the software.

Gotcha.
Admittedly, I had entertained the idea of cracking - though:
A.) I'd put the kibosh on the idea after thinking it through, and:
B.) it woulda been for personal use anyway had I cracked it,
so there's that.
That said, my line of thinking often goes toward "can it be done" more than "should it be done" and "what are the repercussions thereof" - hence my asking in the first place.

Further question: is there (at minimum) one more beta build after this, or is V5's public release the next release?
(also, will V5 be the same price as V4 when it releases?)

There will be at least one more beta.

Yes.

Right. Thanks. Just wanted to be sure.

Hi all,
It’s been a while since I last posted here—probably around 2012 or 2013.
I’m wondering: is there a non-commercial (NFS) version of MoI3D available?
€300 feels a bit steep for occasional hobby use.
From: Michael Gibson
Hi Rich, there is an EDU discount version available for students or teachers. Contact me at
moi@moi3d.com for ordering that version, it's available from different resellers depending on where you are located.
There isn't any hobbyist discount version, sorry.
Thanks, - Michael

Thanks, I’ll contact you.

Funny enough, I still have an EDU key.
Tom Meeks (who's made a few tutorials for MoI, and who I've personally worked with) was able to secure some for the Youthquest Foundation - and I was among the lucky folks who got to work with him. Even after his organization merged with the school I attended, PHILLIPS Programs (private school for special needs kids like me), and even after graduating three years ago, I still have the EDU V4 key I was provided... though I'm likely gonna buy the standard key, since I'm not in school any more, and thus, using the EDU key would be quite imprudent.
From: Michael Gibson
Hi Spartan, yes Tom Meeks has done a great job teaching kids how to build interesting things using MOI.
re:
> and thus, using the EDU key would be quite imprudent.
Actually it isn't a problem - you can use your EDU license key for any kind of work, it is not restricted.

Fair enough.
In any case, I'm looking forward to the next release.

Hi,
I use V4 after having upgraded from V3. As such, I don't have a V4 license; only a v3. Is there any way that I can access the V5 beta or would I need to purchase a new license for V4?
Thanks!
From: Michael Gibson
Hi Rio, you can use the v5 beta with any version 4 license including a v4 upgrade license.
You can put in your v4 upgrade license which starts with VER4UPG into the license key field at
https://moi3d.com/beta.htm .
If you are having a problem with your v4 upgrade license not working there please send it to me at
moi@moi3d.com .

Hi all,
I decided to try MOI v5 and I migrated my settings by copy appdata and ui folders from v4 to C:\Program Files\MoI 5.0 beta Feb-8-2025.
Most of my settings are there, along with scripts and so on, but I cannot change the axes color as seen on the picture.
No matter the color I chose, axes stay the same (grey).
I can change other settings, like UI size.
Can you please advise?
Thanks
