the photo looks like the vertical 'lines' just continue straight up and the upper rim is cut/ hidden behind the metal bar that's coming up from the sides and goes over the top of the mic. so try to go on straight up instead of scaling it down towards the center on top... and cut/ cover the pattern in the middle.
