Hi Mike, the project with the closest point option does tend to be buggy right now, especially when used on closed curves or where it crosses the "seam edge" of a closed surface.

For now you may get better results with it if you split a closed curve into 2 pieces and project the pieces, or use the default directional projection which does work a lot better.
