to just do a patch.
copy the two lines from the solid.
do a blend on both of them then cut them in half.
copy the hole circle edges so they are lines as well. do a rail revolve with the half bend lines and the corresponding circles.
remove the inner surface wall to the solid and then boolean the two surfaces you made to the dome shape (or join them)
