More Morse Keys!   by "Majik" Mike Maynard - K4ICY         View full size

These are several visuals (created in Moi3D and touched up in CorelDRAW and Photoshop) for a couple of instructional articles in our local Amateur Radio club newsletter - The Printed Circuit. The "Cootie" is a type of Morse code key called a "Side-Swiper" which was known to be invented as early as 1888.

Yes, 'Ham' Radio operators still enjoy communicating in Morse code (CW) and a key like the one shown here can not only be made at home from simple parts for as little as $10, but can easily produce code at 30 words per minute. One version shown, with the help of an electronic 'keyer', can easily reach 70+ wpm!
