Mesh import for reference?

Hello MOI experts : )
I have a polygon mesh model - a hard surface mechanical object with predominantly flat planes. It was originally created for visualisation purposes.

My client is now wanting a physical model to be made from this concept, and I need to provide a solid model. I am aware of the difficulties of 'reverse engineering' a mesh model back to Nurbs, so I may have to re-build.

So, two questions:

1. Does MOI allow the import of mesh models for reference / snapping?
or if not...
2. Can I import backplane reference images into the three ortho viewports?

Many thanks

1 - Yes try (if your objects are in OBJ format)
http://moi3d.com/download/Obj23dmWireframe.zip

for the Inverse MOi to OBJ (or other formats) : it's in the Native File / Export

2 - Yes Menu View / Image

You can try to use Rhino trial version (90 days) for transformation mesh to nurbs and then save the nurbs as 3dm file.
