Hi,
I've been playing with the nodeditor and came up with the
attached nod files to produce Socket headed Screws & Nuts.
Have a play.

Top work Barry looks great. .
Just wondering if there is a clone tool in MOI where a change to a ref object can change all others is referenced to
And/or if changing sizes at a later date is possible with this node tool??

Hi,

Using the most recent MOI v4 BETA and NodeEditor 1.0 I can load either one of your .NOD files but something is wrong.

None of the "Save", "Apply", "Run" or "Step" commands are enabled.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Thanks.

Frederick

Hi all,
Stefano
I think what you describe is what I know as blocks.
You create a part or group of parts and add them to a block library
and when used anywhere within your drawing you can alter
the master in the block library and it will update all of them.
At the moment that option is not available in Moi.

Frederick
not sure what's causing your problem but I would suggest you download and
install the Node editor from James thread

Using Max's NE version 1.1 2020 Jul 14 from location http://moi.maxsm.net/files/

Max changed the points nodes.

Hi Barry,

I tried both v1.0 and v1.1 of Node Editor.

It appears I am missing whatever it is that is responsible for implementing these nodes.

See attached.

Thanks.

Frederick

Hi Frederick,

The node is working fine for me, (MoI4Beta), but there are no threads inside of the nuts. The nodes look very cool and detailed.

Double click on the node items which have red box. These are macros, and the macro will be expanded, so you can see which simpler nodes are missing/ "defective". (Box is red.)
(Each macro has several dozen simpler nodes.)

I would guess that maybe the same "missing/defective" item is the problem in each macro???

- Brian

And of course use Max's latest NodeEditor.

The In Out...Out macro is an interesting split.

Hi Brain,

Yes there are several invalid nodes inside the macros that are red.

Different ones are invalid depending on which version (1.0 or 1.1) of Node Editor I try.

Is there a easy way to replace the invalid nodes with the correct one OR do I have to do it node by node? There are many invalid "Point" nodes, for example.

Thanks.

Frederick

Hi,
Frederick
Wayne is correct I am using Max's latest node editor nodeeditor.v.1.1.2020.07.19.jms
with the extensions from James thread.
If your still having problems let me know and I will send you a copy of my node editor.

Brian
I did not thread the nuts but you can simply boolean a screw from the nut as the hole in the nut are the tapping drill size.

Hope this helps
Barry

Seems the NodeEditor by James is the 1.0 and not the 1.1 by Max Smirnov !

Despite of that the Socket & Screws above blocks always in the Macros for the "Point" Node!
(i have the 1.1 of Max + Extensions of James)

@Barry
Maybe will be fine that you post your Complete NodeEditor! ;)

I don't see the 1.1 of the 14 July 2020? (0719) http://moi.maxsm.net/files/

Working like a charm with your complete NodeEditor ! :)

Personally i prefer Sliders against Knobs but it's just question of taste! :)

Can you input fixed values instead of using sliders?

Of course yes but it's many more static and less practical! :)

Here Const 3 for the Radius (Knob can be replaced by a slider of course)

Hi Pilou, Already feels like Christmas using moi or understanding
what its native tools can do. I'll have to try the node editor bit further into my exploration
otherwise likely get no other work done :0) Node editor looks flexible!

Hi, fcwilt.

This indicates that there are no nodes. You can either insert the missing nodes in the node editor system directory, or remove all the red nodes from the macro, the editor will work and the macro will break.
Nodes can be taken for example here: http://moi3d.com/forum/messages.php?webtag=MOI&msg=9358.1

Thank you Barry.

No threads in nuts is fine.

Your scripts are awesome. Must have been a lot of work.

Hi Barry,

I installed the node editor you posted here and things now work fine.

I did notice that the version reported is "Node Editor 1.1 jms" - which is the first time I have seen that particular version.

The multiple, incompatible versions of node editor that are available makes things a bit confusing.

I have one question. If I set the overall length to, say, 10 and the thread length to the same value the threaded portion appears to be about half of the overall length. Is that working as expected?

Thanks again.

Frederick
