Construction line question?

Hi Paul, it looks like this will work. I've added a new "isTemporary" property for construction lines. By default it is true but if you set it to false then it won't get erased at the end of the current command.

So this enables setting up a keyboard shortcut like K to keep construction lines with this as the command:
code:
script:moi.geometryDatabase.getObjects().getConstructionLines().setProperty( "isTemporary", false );

And then maybe something like Ctrl+K for removing them by doing this:
code:
script:var gd = moi.geometryDatabase; gd.removeObjects( gd.getObjects().getConstructionLines() );

They will persist until you erase them or something erases the entire geometry database (like File / New or Open). But they won't save to a .3dm file right now, that will have to wait for a later version.

For this to work you will need an updated moi_lib.dll, I have a couple of other things I want to try before posting a new patch, I think it might be a day or two before I am ready to post it.

There will be a couple of quirks that will be hard to avoid for a little while - if you do a select all or invert, the persistent construction lines can get selected even though they don't show it, they will then get removed if you do a delete.

Yup, you can still snap on to them and find the intersections with other things. There isn't any way to re-activate the menu for the stuff like relocate or reorient though, you can only do those special editing operations right after you have drawn a construction line.

Hi Al - that message means that there is an error in the script.

The script that I showed above won't work in the current beta, it will only work in the next patch that I will be putting out soon, maybe tomorrow I hope.

> I ask you will be ,in the futur , for Moi user the Plug-in Tspline

I don't know... Maybe it will be possible in the future. It will be a while before I will be able to make MoI work well for doing plug-ins. Doing plug-ins takes quite a bit of support and documentation work, I won't be able to do it until a ways in the future I think.

The new patch is not quite ready yet, but it should be tomorrow. I'm just trying a new "axis" snap which basically works like a permanent construction line running along the x and y axes of the grid.

Hmmm, still working on a few last details for the new axis snap. The patch may be ready later tonight, but it might stretch into tomorrow...

Hi Paul, ok it is done now! I got kind of stuck on a bug with the new axis snap for a while there.

link is here: http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=1013.1

With that patch in place, the above "keep construction line" script should now work.
