Is there a way to make a curved surface into a flat 2d surface, like if you wanted to make it from paper. Or can a curve be measured as a total length as if it were straightened out?

It's possible that Flow could be used for this, but it's going to depend on some particulars like is the curve planar or swooping around in 3D?

If you have an example of what you're trying to do that might help.
