Hi,

I just discovered the Node Editor. I installed it and it seems to be working.

Is there a standard place to report problems with the Node Editor?

Thanks.

Frederick

Hi Frederick, you can post them here. Also there's some information on where to get the latest version at http://moi3d.com/wiki/nodeeditor .

Find the link that says "Most recent version with new extensions collected by James here".

Hi Frederick,

Here are a couple of specific links to help get you started. They are within the information mentioned by Michael above.

James is organizing the current version along with some library extensions.
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=9358.1

Pilou has a website on MoI with Node Editor details (code name Elephant).

Hello,

I am evaluating moi, and specifically elephant. I design stairs and looking to use the nodeeditor for balustrade patterns and repeating balustrade/structure.

I have downloaded the 'nosave trial' and have successfully installed the nodeeditor, but getting an error on startup and lots of error with certain nodes (eg img sampler, voronoi)

I realise that elephant is still in beta, and maybe the no save trial is not the most up to date version of moi, but how close is elephant to a release?

Are these errors ironed out in the moi 3?

It looks very usable, in the right hands and some amazing nods out there. I have managed to make a straight stair and the beginnings of a balustrade which is positive
I have played with grasshopper, but has a lot of parts I will never use. Moi is a lot more cost effective!

Can you post your .nod if you can save something...
Normally even with a demo alternative version without save you can save a ".nod"v3
Tested with alternate demo V3 without save and reloaded in V4 beta that works with any problem ;)

Hello Pilou,
I have saved a few nodes, that part works great, even with the trial. This is excellent for evaluating if this software will work for me.
I am starting by re-creating nods and trying to understand how they work.

this is a first attempt at nod
BTW, I'm using the latest build on James's thread

Hi geoff, the nodeeditor is Max's part time side project that gets updates when he has extra time. It's somewhat of a community project and has a slow rate of development.

If that type of procedural modeling is an integral part of what you need, you would probably be better off with Rhino/Grasshopper, although if you are interested in community based open source development and would like to participate in evolving it then it might be a good fit for you.

Existing nodeeditor users are using it with the MoI v4 beta and so there are some bugs when using it with v3.

I think I recognize the second one you show as a bug when creating a Macro when running under MoI v3, there is some info on that here:
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=7777.1494

I'm not entirely sure but I think the other 2 are also things that use newer areas of Javascript which are not supported by the older WebKit version that is bundled with MoI v3 but are supported on the newer one that comes with MoI v4.

Hi Geoff,

The imgsampler, voronoi, delaunay nodes are developed using MoI V4 Beta and the latest Node Editor version.

The ImgSampler error could be an input value is not set for scale. Or the image is missing. I did not add error checking for all possible scenarios.

Using scripting for balustrade would be ideal. ( I had to look up balustrade on google. ).

Hello,
Installed the nodeeditor.v.1.1 It opens ok. Read the
“MACROS IN NODEEDITOR.pdf”
But cannot work out why I cannot do anything with imported macros.

How do i apply the "progenitor input and progenitor output"

Found the “Extensions: Curves2” on [https://moiscript.weebly.com/curves2.html]
Which I would like to access and experiment with the helix function, but the links just go around in circles
Could somebody please point me in the right direction?

if you load this one by James
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=9358.1

it must be have the last version of the Node Editor (even I suppose it's written 1.0 (?) )
Wait the answer of James for confirmation
In any case with it the Helix function works fine exactly like that you found here
https://moiscript.weebly.com/curves2.html#helix

For the Macros takes a look here
https://moiscript.weebly.com/macro-e.html

Needs an entrance (In) and an exit (Out)!
(given by Right clicking on the empty screen of the Macro!!! )
And then Right Click on the News In & End for give the good nature (color) of Number, Point, Object

Thank you for your reply PILOU.
I downloaded the NodeEditor directly from [http://moi.maxsm.net/nodeeditor/].
Downdoaded an extensions.zip file which had in it the “curves2” and "SubDiv" and others.
Unzipped this file into [C:\...\AppData\Roaming\Moi\nodeeditor\nodes\extensions]
But I do not know how to access these functions (I am using moi V4beta)

Hi redraw,

Did you setup the shortcut in the MoI shortcut keys menu?

I use F6 to start the node editor. There could also be a icon on the bottom menu to startup the node editor.

moi.ui.createDialog( 'moi://appdata/nodeeditor/index.html', 'resizeable,defaultWidth:680,defaultHeight:420', moi.ui.mainWindow );

After it starts up, right click on the desktop to access the node menus. On the new version there is an icon in the left most corner with three horizontal lines that will display the node menus.
