Quarantine gives me some free time,so i decided to finish this project started few years ago.

Vespa ( Wasp= English) mother of all scooters, patented in 1946,icon of industrial design.

Engineer D'Ascanio was inspired by his aeronautical background.
It was more a vehicle than a bike.Large two seat saddle, driver's feet isolated from dust and mud.
Mounting a windshield and dress a raincoat you can drive in the rain.
Before cars,Vespa was the only way to travel with the family

Famous all over the world, from Hollywood...

...to " the other side of the Alps" :)

Modeling speaking,we are in the grey area here: SubD ?...Nurbs? This is my workflow

Bool fusion

Great challenge the handlebar:Sphere with control points moved to get a "drop" shape

Loft:circle as start then copied and moved its points

Slicing sections and blend G2

Sweep or Network..i don't remember :) :)

Offset surface then close the sides to get a solid

Bool union with the frame and variable fillet

Sweep and Loft

Bool fusion for the side pocket

I did it without exact dimensions (by eye) so some details i left, something else is not mechanically correct

Quarantine gave me time to jump into Blender...no complains:it's free !! :) :)
Thousands of Gurus and tutorials,an add-on for everything..what else you need ? :)
So export straight from Moi to Blender as Ngons
Import without problems,no flipped normals..all ok !
Here Wire screenshot,no retopo...Mesh virgin as Michael did it :) ( An Italian way of saying)

As an old user of unbiased render ( Fry-Arion) i choose Luxcore thanks to Pilou with his precious suggestions here on the forum
I tried to get the original color of the paint, metallic light blue with a nuance of green... a mix

Considering that i'm 58,
two years without render images
start Blender from 3 weeks
an old hardware ( core duo quad 2.66-8 Gb Ram-GTX 460)
..too many excuses.. :) :)
this is just a new begin

Cool! Can I put this Vespa tuto on my French site ?
I have yet your Fiat Abarth ;) http://moiscript.weebly.com/fiat-abarth.html

And bravo for your fall in love of Blender!
I never success that! (maybe because i am the 10 years generation over your! ???
However i try, even in using and made the Manual for the new cool plugins (by a talentuous French guy Pitiwazou)
SpeedFlow and ProProflow for Blender !
http://moiscript.weebly.com/proflow.html http://moiscript.weebly.com/speedflow.html

But no, Blender is not my cup of tea! (Maybe because I previous use first SketchUp and Moi! :)

Have fun modeling!

Mauro - That's a great model and render!

The posts I enjoy reading the most are one's showing the steps of making real (or imagined) assembled objects, from start to finish. And especially when basic NURBS tools are used rather than a patchwork of small surfaces.

Your classic Vespa looks like an example of the sweet spot where a semi-organic design can be realized with the basic MoI tools.

Well done. Hope to see more projects.

But I couldn't stop myself to come in here
for a second time just say WOW.

My mouth is open since the first time i saw this.

Very well done Mauro.

And a big thank you for your step-by-step
explanation.

Prego :)

Grand scelta aver preso Affinity!
Se hai anche un iPad Pro, accoppialo con "Pixelmator Photo" e vai che é una bomba :)

You're welcome :)
Affinity is a great choice!
On the iPad Pro, coupled with "Pixelmator Photo", is a killer duo :)

Mauro, did you have any detailed blueprints or photos for the more ambitious
parts likthe wheels ? Btw would be interesting to see some screenshots of the
wheel-mechanics ...

Cheers TOM
