MoI Performance

Hello,

MoI is fast and light weight in general but when dealing with complex assemblies it slows down a bit and gets a little sluggish.

I have an old 2 cores CPU. My question is...will I get a better performance if I upgrade my CPU? Will MoI use the additional CPU cores?

I have MoI V4 Beta.

Thanks,

Hi Stargazer, yes MoI is able to use multiple CPU cores for some parts of the display engine so a better CPU with more cores would probably help. How much is hard to say exactly it can depend on the particulars of the model.

Another thing you can try for complex models is to set the display mesh to be coarser. You do that by changing the setting in Options > View > Meshing parameters > Mesh angle. If you set that to a rougher angle like 25 degrees and uncheck "Add detail to inflections" it will reduce the display mesh density by quite a bit which will make for a little rougher shaded surface display but can also increase shaded surface display performance a lot as well.

The display is also dependent on the GPU for many things as well, so if you have a pretty old video card an upgrade to that would likely help as well.
