Scaling issue

Hi all,

I feel particularly silly asking this question because it seems so obvious but I can't figure it out.

So there's this shape... I'd just like to make an inner border that is exactly 2mm inset from the original in yellow. When I try to scale, the vertical borders are much closer than the top ones.

Could someone help this idiot out please! :)

In this situation I suggest you try 'offset'
cheers,

Hi Gunter, yes it seems intuitive that scale would work for that since you want to shrink down the shape.

But to maintain a constant thickness requires changing some of the proportions of the shape, while scaling maintains proportions.
