I don't know how, but somehow managed to over extrude a solid for making a hole and ended up with a hole where it wasn't suppose to be ( bangs head on desk ). See attached model with arrow

It took me a while to figure out how to patch the hole as I couldn't figure out a way to use the Boolean tools .

My method :
highlight the inside circular hole edge line , draw lines on or across edge line and use the trim command to break the circle into segments , I made 5, select the 5 segments and use network command . Repeat for the outside hole edge.

Highlight the whole solid model , select separate .

Highlight the inside surface and adjacent networked hole patch , join the two to make one surface, Repeat for outside hole.

Select all model surfaces and make solid

To me that seems like a lot of steps . Am I missing something ? Is there an easier way to file a hole in a solid ?

select inside wall of hole and hit delete.

select edge of inside surface hole and hit delete.

select edge of outside surface hole and delete.

no more hole.

Well DigiD,
It is only "so simple" under certain circumstances.. that hole is oit there all by itself. If the hole was involved in an area like a boolean or fillet, it would get more compex.

Essentially, the area where we just push delete, is "untim-able" unto itself.

Try to grab what that means, then the complex one will be understandable.....

@DigiD, by the way there is an object repair tutorial here which goes into some more detail about what is involved in a more complicated situation when the hole is not so self contained and runs into other nearby stuff:

thanks for the link Michael , I will probably be using those tricks sooner than later

Laughed when I read ( the "whole" hole ) for some reason it reminded me of the Bugs Bunny or Wile E cartoon episode that used "ACME portable holes" a very useful product. I need to order ACME portable patches :)
