Hi Michael

Will there be any future options for user placed snapping guides, similar to what "Sketchup" uses and how its used?

You can yet Use native "Point" as SketchUp "Guid Point"! ;)
Draw Curve / More - Point

And Use the Browser for Select Points then Edit: Hide/Show...or erase it ...and of course you can give them a color, Name to a selection etc...

Hi nzhavoc,

MoI has a mechanism called "Construction Lines" which is used for that type of stuff. You can trigger it in any drawing command by pressing and holding the mouse button down while dragging away from a target point. A construction line will appear which can be used for getting various extension and intersection points.

There is more detailed information on it here:

Thanks Michael!

However, Is there an option to keep the cline/s active or stored for later use rather than self-delete after the tool is dropped. Plus is there a way to create a new cline pulled perpendicularly off another cline or existing curve, so as to end up with a parallel cline/s, (with the option to input a distance parameter) rather than just point to point? In Sketchup I find these functions absolutely indispensable.

Oh...and btw. The "Measure" tool is used in Sketchup to active the guides. So maybe a separate tool function in Moi could be utilised....just say'n :)

Thanks

Hi nzhavoc,

You'd usually just draw a regular line if you want something that will stay around.

It is possible to set up a plug-in that will make clines that persist longer than the current command, you can get that here:

You can use the "Relocate cline" function on the pop out menu that Pilou shows above. Draw a cline in the direction you want, then use "Relocate cline" and for the distance type in your distance value and push enter which enables distance constraint. Then your next picked point will be constrained to that specified distance away from the construction line's original base point.

Hmmm, well creating a construction line doesn't seem directly related to measuring something so that's a kind of strange place to put that function.

I do have some ideas for improving construction lines in the future though that I would like to experiment with.
