Issues with Mac OS Mojave

Hi all,

So I updated my Mac OS to Mojave and moi3D seems to have some issues opening. It take a really long while to open and seems to slow down everything else meanwhile.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Gunter

Hi Gunter, I"d recommend trying the v4 beta which you can get from http://moi3d.com/beta.htm . V4 is a native compiled Mac application and should behave a lot better on newer OS versions than v3 which used the "Wineskin" mechanism.

One issue though Michael.. when I open an existing file, it appears as a wire frame. Then it randomly changes from wireframe to a full 3d image. Clicking in the pane seems to affect
this too.

Any solution to this?
Many thanks,
Gunter

Hi Gunter, what video card does your system have?

One thing you can try is to go to Options > General > "Edit .ini file" button and inside moi.ini in the [View] section find the line that has:

StaticBufferMaxVRAMToUseMB=

and set it to be =0 like this:

StaticBufferMaxVRAMToUseMB=0

That will disable the new part of the display engine that caches display meshes on the video card memory, from your description something is not working properly with that on your system.

Hi Michael,

As always, thank you for your super quick replies. Do you ever sleep? :)

This is what I have:

Sorry to be thick but how do I get to Options > General etc.? Also, I noticed that when you extrude a closed wire frame, it only extrudes the wire (like a plane) whereas previously it would etrude the whole shape. Does that make any sense?

Hi hi, I found it... sorry Michael. Yes that seems to work now! Still unclear about the extrude difference though?

Many thanks,
Gunter
