Hi Pozero - yes you can create solids from curves in a several different ways.
Most of the ways are in the Construct menu. For example if you have a flat outline, you can use Construct / Extrude to punch it up into a 3D solid.
You can use Construct / Revolve to construct a solid from a curve by swinging the curve around an axis hinge (for lathed type shapes).
I'd say that probably Extrude, Revolve, Loft and Sweep (all in the Construct menu) are some of the most commonly used tools for building solids from curves.
