Exporting Curves for MAYA

Hello everyone,

I hope this message finds you well and that your journey in the digital realm is a blast.

Quick question, how can one export Moi Curves to Maya?

The curves were pushed around in 3D on all axis, so AI and PDF wont carry their 3D nature..

Thoughts?

Hi Berube, try using IGES format for moving 3D curves into Maya.

MoI can also export 3D curves to STEP, SAT, 3DM, and DXF formats if IGES doesn't work for some reason.

Hi Micheal,

Thanks for your reply. Appreciate it.

I guess my problem is on the MAYA side. Sorry, I should have specified.

So the question might be, which of these formats are compatible with the MAYA import function?

Hi Berube, from what I can see here:
http://help.autodesk.com/view/MAYAUL/2017/ENU/?guid=GUID-CE85B76E-EA98-4FB3-BAF1-99730CA3220B
it says Maya can import IGES, SAT and STEP formats. For curves I'd recommend IGES format since I think that's worked for others before.

But it looks like they've changed how imports work for the Maya 2017 version though, it used to be a plugin called "Direct Connect" and now it's one called ATF (Autodesk Translation Framework). I don't know if there are any new limitations in the new system.
